Sameer Wankhede Files Defamation Case Against Netflix's Show 'The Bads Of Bollywood' For Mocking Him

Indian Revenue Service officer, Sameer Wankhede, has reportedly moved to the Delhi High Court, filing a plea for a permanent injunction against Aryan Khan's directorial debut mocking him.

Aryan Khan has been through the most difficult time when he was in judicial custody due to a drug-related case in 2021. However, Shah Rukh Khan fought tooth and nail for his son, and in 2022, he was cleared of any wrongdoing in the matter. And Shah Rukh didn't let any chance go to take revenge in his own way. His dialogue, 'Bete Ko Haath Lagane Se Pehle, Baap Se Baat kar' from Jawan, was reportedly a dig at the officer, Sameer Wankhede. Now, Aryan took the revenge by allegedly mocking Sameer Wankhede in his directorial debut.

For the unversed, some claim that Aryan Khan's directorial show, The Bads Of Bollywood, mocks Sameer Wankhede. After this, the Indian Revenue Officer decided to move to the Delhi High Court seeking a permanent injunction against the show. As per a report by ANI, in his suit, Sameer sought relief in the form of a permanent and mandatory injunction, declaration and damages against the production house, Netflix and others.

He stated in the plea that he has been aggrieved by a false, malicious and defamatory portrayal in Aryan Khan's directorial debut show, The Bads of Bollywood. The plea can be read as:

"This series disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions."

Sameer claimed that the series was deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign his reputation in a painted and tainted way. He added that this is happening when proceedings involving him and Aryan Khan are still pending in the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court, Mumbai. He stated that it was an unfair portrayal which targets him amidst the judicial case.

Fans noticed a character in Aryan Khan's directorial series that resembled Sameer Wankhede

After the seven-episode series was released, viewers quickly noticed a character who appeared at the end of the first episode who resembled Sameer Wankhede. In the sequence that is under the radar, an officer claims that he is fighting a 'war against drugs' and the agency name was 'NCG'. The officer then entered a glitzy Bollywood party and accused the film industry of being plagued by substance abuse.

However, fans were quick to notice that it was a dig at Sameer Wankhedhe as the character was donning a white shirt and dark pants, along with his hair and physical features giving an uncanny resemblance to the former Narcotics Control Bureau officer.

On August 17, 2025, Netflix India shared the much-awaited teaser of Aryan Khan's show, The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. The show offers a glimpse of chaos, boldness, and self-awareness, much like its title. Aryan himself walked straight into the camera, imitating his father, Shah Rukh Khan, with a violin in hand. He walks into the camera with a romantic set up, and recites one of Shah Rukh Khan's most iconic lines from Mohabbatein, but with a twist.

Talking about the show, there are reports that claim the web series is based on his jail term and takes a dig at it. In an interview with SCREEN, Lakshya neither accepted nor denied the buzz. Lakshya talked about the jail scene and said:

"I didn't have any hopes that he was going to have jokes like these in the show."
