Samay Raina Seems Unfazed By FIR Over 'India's Got Latent' Controversy, Shares Post From US Tour

Comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina, who also hosts the controversial comedy show, India’s Got Latent, recently shared his first Instagram post after an FIR lodged against him and his fellow penalists. After the panel made derogatory and sexually explicit remarks during the latest episode of IGL, the show has received tremendous backlash, so much so, that the Guwahati Police registered FIR against the judges, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh.

Samay, who has made his identity as the king of dark comedy through his controversial jokes, is currently in the middle of his Unfiltered: North America Tour 2025. Taking to his Instagram handle, Samay posted a series of photos from his packed show at the San Jose Civic in California. Seemingly unfazed by the controversy, he captioned the post:

“Performed in San Jose Civic | Grateful.”

The FIR and public backlash surrounding India’s Got Latent

The legal trouble stems from a viral clip where panellist, Ranveer Allahbadia allegedly made crass remarks on India’s Got Latent, including an inappropriate offer involving Rs. 2 crores and a shocking ‘would you rather’ question involving parental intimacy. Another guest panel, Apoorva aka The Rebel Kid, made a leud comment on a participant involving his mother after the former also made a sexually explicit comment. The comments sparked outrage, leading to a formal complaint by Bombay High Court advocate, Satyam Surana, who filed a case with Mumbai Police. As per a report by ANI, Surana said:

“The video that went viral shows Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, and others inciting sexually explicit content and making obscene remarks. This is highly disturbing to common Indian sensibilities.”

Amid IGL controversy, B Praak cancels podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia

B Praak, known for Teri Mitti and Mann Bharryaa, withdrew from Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast after the latter’s controversial remarks on India’s Got Latent. On February 10, 2025, the singer posted a video on Instagram, expressing disappointment over crude humour being passed off as entertainment. Calling out Ranveer directly, B Praak criticised him for promoting spirituality and Sanatan values on his podcast while making disrespectful remarks about someone’s parents. He condemned the hypocrisy, questioning how someone who engages with saints and spiritual figures could hold such crass views.

Past controversies of IGL

This isn’t the first time India’s Got Latent has come under fire. The show previously sparked outrage for offensive jokes targeting people with disabilities, residents of Arunachal Pradesh, and mental health issues. In September 2024, a comedian’s insensitive jokes about disabilities also led to legal action. Another episode from November 2024 stirred controversy when a contestant mocked Deepika Padukone’s battle with depression.

Despite the backlash, Samay Raina continues his US tour. Meanwhile, authorities are looking into the matter for further investigation.
