In the personal life, she has been going through a rough patch after she was diagnosed with an auto-immune condition, myositis. In a new Instagram post, Samantha shared some of the side effects of her condition on her health and how she has been healing from it.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu announced in 2022 that she was diagnosed with an auto-immune condition, myositis. It took a significant mental and physical toll on her health. Since then, the actress has consistently shared updates about her health on IG with her fans. On September 15, 2024, Samantha took to her Instagram handle and shared a series of pictures sharing her skincare routine.

In the post, Samantha mentioned that her skin has been better lately and that she doesn't have to cover it with makeup like she used to. She revealed that when she fell sick, she had to take some strong medications to deal with it. However, it impacted her skin as she developed issues like dryness, pigmentation, puffiness, and more. The actress recalled how people often commented on her skin, saying that she looked tired which affected her. Samantha penned:
"When I fell sick and had to go on strong medications, my skin was the first to suffer. Pigmentation, dryness, puffiness and other issues appeared out of nowhere, and nothing I used before worked anymore."
Samantha added that she had taken the non-invasive route to restore my skin's health. The Family Man actress shared that she has been doing Pico laser, red light therapy, and facials focusing on lymphatic drainage, which has helped her deal with skin issues.

A few days ago, Samantha attended the launch event of the Anamika Khanna X H&M collection. When fans spotted the actress after a long break, they were surprised to see her physical transformation, and the video of her ramp walk soon went viral. Several netizens wondered what happened to her glow and how she lost weight. One user wrote, "All her charm is gone...looking elderly." Another one said, "She's not glowing anymore. Of course, damn depression may ruin anyone."
Earlier in 2024, Samantha sat down for an interview with India Today and revealed that she was forced to announce her diagnosis. She said she had an impending release of her female-centric film, and her absence gave rise to several rumours. So, she had to interview to share her diagnosis while undergoing high doses of medication. Soon after, the actress took a break from showbiz to focus on her health and has now returned to work. She was quoted as saying:
"I was very sick back then. It was hard and I wasn't ready. There were all sorts of speculation going around and misinformation being spread. The producers needed me to promote it. Otherwise, it would just die. So, I agreed to do one interview. Obviously, I didn't look the same. I had high doses of medication to keep me stable. I was forced to. Given a choice, I wouldn't have come out and announced it."
