Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been through a lot in terms of her first marriage, with a painful and ugly separation. The actress once mentioned that she would never want to be in the same room as her ex-husband, Naga Chaitanya. During her appearance on Karan Johar's chat show, she admitted that they didn't have an amicable divorce. While Samantha and Naga Chaitanya have moved on in their lives, not many know that the actress had chopped off her wedding dress and turned it into a revenge dress.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu tied the knot with her then-longtime beau, Naga Chaitanya, in 2017. They had two wedding ceremonies as per Tamil Brahmin and Christian rituals. For her white wedding, Samantha wore the most beautiful white-hued dress, and it had floral detailing on the corset. The then-bride looked nothing less than a fairytale princess, and fans were in awe of her look, but no one knew that Samantha's happiness was short-lived, and her marriage ended in 2021.

However, after three years of her separation, Samantha surprised everyone when she donned her wedding dress again. But this time, she had chopped it off and turned it into a revenge dress. The pristine white dress with floral detailing was cut off by the designer Kresha Bajaj, and it was dyed in a black colour. It was turned into a perfect evening gown.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Kresha Bajaj revealed the reason behind turning the emotional piece into a revenge dress. Kresha stated that it was a deeply personal memory stitched into something new. The actress wanted to reclaim something which was deeply personal to her, and she felt honoured to be part of the process. Kresha further added that the idea wasn't to erase the past but to acknowledge it with grace and transform it into something unique and beautiful. She was quoted as saying:
"That piece was more than a garment—it was a memory stitched into something new. Samantha wanted to reclaim something deeply personal, and I felt honored to be part of that process. We kept the essence intact—the soul of the original outfit—but reimagined it with intention. It wasn’t about erasing the past but acknowledging it with grace and transforming it into something unique."

During an interview with Galatta India, Samantha confirmed that she had chopped off the most important memory of her life as it reminded her of her past. She stated that when a woman goes through a divorce, there's a lot of shame and judgment attached to her. She was being called second-hand, used, wasted. Samantha said:

"The reason why I did that is because I don't know, I can't speak about men so I'm speaking for women. When a woman goes through a divorce, there's a lot of shame and stigma attached to that."
Samantha further added that things changed for her, and it wasn't a fairytale anymore. But she didn't want to cry about it and sit in the corner. So, it wasn't a revenge thing, which people assumed. However, Samantha accepted that it looked like one, but she just wanted to show that she is not hiding her pain, which means a new beginning. She said:
"And I wanted that to be a kind of it wasn't any kind of revenge or anything. I know people, it really wasn't like any kind of that, although it looked like it, it wasn't. It was that, yes, this has happened and I know it, I am not trying to hide from it, this is it. That doesn't mean my life ends there, it begins where it ends. And I am very very happy right now."

Samantha beautifully transformed her white wedding dress into an evening piece, reminding the world that some scars turn into pretty beauty marks.
