The recently released biographical drama, Shershaah, based on the life of Kargil War's hero, Captain Vikram Batra, has not only reignited Sidharth Malhotra's career but also reinstated cinema lovers' faith in Indian cinema. The film is receiving rave reviews from both critics and the audience. Whether we talk about the film's director, Vishnuvardhan's excellent direction or the film's music, everything about the film was just perfect.

However, the film's producer, Shabbir Boxwala, revealed in his recent interview that Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan approached him with the idea of casting his brother-in-law, Aayush Sharma, as Captain Vikram Batra in the film, Shershaah, instead of Sidharth Malhotra.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Shershaah producer, Shabbir Boxwala talked about the film's success and shared a big revelation about the casting plans of the film. The producer revealed that superstar, Salman Khan had approached him with the idea of casting his brother-in-law, Aayush Sharma, in Shershaah. He said, "Salman approached me at a stage when I was in talks with Junglee Pictures. He wanted Shershaah to be Aayush's [Sharma] debut film and wanted to partner with me on it."

Going further in his interview, when Shabbir Boxwala was asked to reveal the reason why he and his team discarded the idea of casting Aayush Sharma instead of Sidharth Malhotra in the film. The producer stated that Captain Vikram Batra's family had already approved Sid by then. He said, "It would have been highly unethical to drop him for another actor. When Captain Batra's family gave me the rights, it was a big moment for me."

The producer also added that the reason why he had never thought of ditching Captain Vikram Batra's parents wish to see Sidharth as Vikram Batra in the film. He said, "They showed immense trust in me, and I didn't want to go wrong at any step. I explained [my predicament] to Salman, who was understanding. Aayush was sweet and sportingly said that playing a double role in his debut movie might be [a tall order]." The massive revelation from Shabbir Boxwala is leading all the headlines and netizens are praising him for not accepting Salman Khan's idea and sticking with Sidharth Malhotra.

On August 4, 2021, Kaira Advani had taken to her Instagram handle and had shared a video in which she and Sidharth Malhotra could be seen reflecting on their preparation for their respective roles. In the video, Kiara had stated that the moment late Captain Vikram Batra's parents, G.L. Batra and Kamal Kanta Batra, had seen Sidharth Malhotra, they had admitted that he reminds them of their son. She had also added that Captain Batra's parents were keen for Sid to play the role of their son in the film.
