Hollywood has lost another bright gem with the passing of Oscar-nominated actress, Sally Kirkland, remembered for her role in Anna (1987), at the age of 84. The veteran actress took her last breath at a hospice care in Palm Springs after suffering from a serious fall, life-threatening infections, and dementia. The actress's representative, Michael Greene, confirmed to TMZ that she died at 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday and would be 'deeply missed'. Sally's demise marks the end of an era for Hollywood, where she was admired in the '80s for her confidence and on-screen charisma. 

Sally Kirkland's friends supported her in her final days 

Before Sally Kirkland's demise, she was struggling with dementia and her declining health. According to a GoFundMe page created by her close friends and former students, the actress suffered a serious fall in her shower. It left her with broken ribs and a foot injury, adding to her ongoing health woes. Additionally, the outlet shared that Sally had been dealing with life-threatening infections and was placed under hospice care to ensure that she could rest comfortably. 

Since Sally's medical expenses were rising and there was no immediate family to manage them, a fundraising campaign was launched to cover them. The veteran actress' friends described her as a 'fighter' who always supported others, and now it was their time to provide the same love in return. Consequently, the donations helped cover the expenses of Sally's care, rehabilitation, and in-home assistance during her last days.

Was Sally Kirkland married? 

Despite her long and eventful life, Sally Kirkland had opened up about how it was difficult for her to find a lasting companionship. According to TMZ and reports from her close circle, she first married Michael Jarrett in 1974. However, the relationship ended within a year. Later, in 1985, Sally gave love another chance and married Mark Hebert. However, the relationship ended in a divorce. According to sources close to the actress, she found it challenging to balance her personal life with a demanding career, which made it difficult for her to maintain long-term relationships. 

Although she had no biological children, Sally shared a strong emotional bond with her stepdaughter, Jan Kirkland, and granddaughter, Hannah Bont. However, Local 10 News reported that they both were tragically murdered in Florida in 2019. Jan and Hannah's demise was an emotional setback for the actress. Yet, despite Sally's personal heartbreak, she remained spiritual and found her peace in painting, poetry, and yoga.
