Actor, producer and director, Salim Khan is one half of the prolific screenwriting duo of Salim-Javed, along with Javed Akhtar. Salim is leading a happy marriage with his two wives and five children under the same roof.
Salim Khan will grace his son, Arbaaz Khan’s talk show, The Invincibles, where he will talk about the various aspects of his life. During the promos of the show, Arbaaz was seen discussing his father's love story with Helen. The director opens up about the same and calls it an ‘emotional accident’. Elaborating on the same, Salim says:

“She was young, I was also young. Mera koi aisa iraada nahi tha. This is an emotional accident. Kisi ke sath bhi ho sakta hai.”

Salim Khan married Sushila Charak, a.k.a., Salma Khan in 1954 after a five-year-long relationship. It was love at first sight for them, and together they have three sons, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and a daughter, Alvira Khan. It was in the mid-1960s when Salim helped actress, Helen bag several projects in Bollywood, which formed a great professional relationship between them.

Slowly, Salim Khan and Helen’s professional relationship blossomed into love by the late 70s, and he was ready to take their relationship to a new level. An already-married Salim Khan wanted to marry Helen, and in 1980, they tied the knot. Helen did know that she was having a liaison with a married man.

Despite the sadness, Salma did not have a choice and had to share Salim as well as the house with Helen. Needless to say, things were not smooth between Helen and Sushila, and it was difficult to co-exist. The children sided with their mother, Salma, and were not ready to accept Helen.
In a throwback interview, Salma Khan revealed that she was not happy with Salim and Helen's marriage. She also stated that her kids, Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail and Alvira did not even talk to Helen. However, after some time, they accepted Helen, and she became an integral part of their lives. The kids got another mother in Helen, and she got a family. This was the major reason why Helen and Salim had never thought of having their own children.
