Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara is no longer just a romantic film; it has become a nationwide phenomenon. The movie, which broke several box office records, is finally on OTT. Now, those who missed the movie in theatres can log in to their Netflix accounts and watch it anytime, anywhere. Saiyaara dropped on OTT on September 12, and fans have already showered it with a significant amount of love. They also defended the romantic film against the backlash it received due to the viral videos of fans crying inside theatres.
Saiyaara gave Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda an ideal debut, one that set the stage for bigger things in the future. Their movie grossed Rs. 577 crore worldwide, becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. However, like everything else, Saiyaara faced its fair share of criticism. It was primarily due to viral Instagram reels and YouTube shorts showcasing audience reactions – crying, getting breathless, and creating overly emotional scenes in theatres.
It generated a huge buzz, and some critics even accused Saiyaara's filmmakers of staging these emotional responses as paid promotions. Although the film's director and producers denied the allegations, many were not convinced and chose to hate on the film and change their minds about getting its tickets. Now, with Saiyaara's arrival on OTT, many more people have had the opportunity to watch it, and they have bashed those who judged the movie based on the viral audience clips.
Many people watched the movie as soon as it got released on Netflix and shared their reviews about it on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit. They felt that the 'Saiyaara-bashing' was unnecessary and the movie deserves all the success. "Funny how some people trashed #Saiyaara just because of a few dumb reels during its theatrical release. Hope they actually sit down and watch it now that it's on #Netflix, one wrote," an X-user wrote.
A lot of fans praised Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's acting and expressed pleasant surprise at the film being their first work in the industry. "Watched #SaiyaaraOnNetflix , must say it was a refreshing love story elevated by heartwarming performances by leads . @mohit11481 .. Congratulations to the team . Another stated, "loved this movie! The movie theatre experience was unmatched but I'm excited to watch it at home again. The hate for this movie is unjustified." A third wrote, "Funny how some people trashed #Saiyaara just because of a few dumb reels during its theatrical release. Hope they actually sit down and watch it now that it's on #Netflix." Many also addressed the controversy around Saiyaara being a remake of the Korean movie, A Moment to Remember.
One of them wrote, "Watching it right now. I don't care what anyone else feels, I loved the movie in theatres and absolutely bawling right now. Loved Mohit Suri's musicals and love stories. And don't come at me saying Korean Remake, I know it." Thus, overall, the response to Saiyaara's OTT release was even grander than its theatrical drop.
Saiyaara follows a troubled musician named 'Krish' (Ahaan Panday) and a young writer named 'Vaani' (Aneet Padda), who fall in love while collaborating on a song. Their relationship is tested when 'Vaani' gets diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease and begins losing her memories. The film concludes with 'Krish' searching for 'Vaani', after she vanishes. Watch it to see if he can rekindle her memories of their love and if they'll get a happy ending.
