Sanjay Khan 'Was Flamboyant, And She..' Saira Banu Remembers Zarine Khan, Praises Her For 'Strength'

Zarine Khan, a well-known 1960s model and the wife of Sanjay Khan, passed away at 81. Zarine was suffering from age-related issues, and after suffering a cardiac arrest, she passed away on November 7, 2025. Zarine Khan is survived by her husband, Sunjay Khan, and their four kids. Zayed Khan and Sussanne Khan were seen heartbroken as they bid farewell to their mom, as per Hindu rituals. 

For the unversed, Zarine Khan was Parsi and married a Muslim man. The duo's wedding had several ups and downs, but they always stayed together. As Zarine passed away, Saira Banu, took to her social media and recalled her close friend, while praising her for the way she held her marriage with a 'flamboyant man', Abbas (Sanjay Khan).

A while ago, Saira Banu shared a photo on her IG handle of Sanjay Khan, Zarine Khan, and Dilip Kumar. Sharing the photo, Saira bared her heart and said that she and Zarine were close friends who would spend several moments together. She also added that over the past few years, she and Zarine hadn't met each other much, given their health. Saira further added that she was in awe of Zarine's wisdom, her sense of art. She also added that they had the same sense of art, as they would often end up buying the same things.

In the same post, Saira praised Zarine Khan and said she wanted to learn a lot from her. Saira further mentioned that she had always admired how Zarine maintained her marriage with so much strength and patience, even when Sanjay Khan was a 'flamboyant' man. She also added how Zarine's perspective on life and marriage was exemplary. Mentioning that Zarine had a whole lot of patience, wisdom, and deep love, Saira Banu shared:

"What I admired most about Zarine was her quiet strength in holding her marriage together. Abbas was a flamboyant man, full of life and colour, and she complemented him with serenity and understanding. Her perspective on life and marriage was truly exemplary. Their lasting marriage, stands on the foundation of her patience, wisdom, and the deep love that sustained them through time."

Zarine Khan talked about Sanjay Khan's affair with Zeenat Aman

When Zarine Khan was pregnant with Zayed Khan, Sanjay Khan's affair with Zeenat Aman made the headlines. Well, Zarine was aware of the same, and in an interview with iDiva, the former model-actress said she had gone through a lot of emotional turmoil during that time, but she held onto her strength. She also shared that she had self-confidence and if she wanted, she could have gotten anyone, but she didn't want anyone. She also added that she kept her self-confidence up and even wore six-inch heels during her 9 months of pregnancy.

Zarine also mentioned that she took up interior design back then and would go to Chor Bazar to pick up antiques and furniture. In the same interview, Zarine shared that she had to give Sanjay an ultimatum, saying she would walk away. She mentioned that her husband might have thought that he could keep both Zeenat and her, being a muslim, but she was a Parsi, and couldn't accept that. Zarine said:

"I threw a tantrum and gave him an ultimatum that I’d walk out. That’s when things returned to normalcy. Maybe, it was just ‘a mad wind’ that blew over. But throughout, Abbas kept reassuring me, ‘I love you’. He thought being a Muslim; he’d be able to manage us both. But I was a Zoroastrian and couldn’t accept that.”
