Saira Banu is one of the most-loved actresses in Hindi film industry during the 90s. She equally shared a warm bond with most of her colleagues in the film fraternity, including with those with whom she may or may not always have shared the screen. Married to yesteryear icon, Dilip Kumar, the duo was the evergreen couple back in the days, who used to be the star couple in every public appearance. Amid everyone others, the couple shared a special bonding with their close friend, Sunil Dutt. Fast forward to now, Saira Banu still continues to share the same reverence for her friend, Sunil Dutt, as she penned a special note for his son, Sanjay Dutt.
Saira Banu, who recently made a debut on social media at the age of 78, took to her IG handle and penned a birthday wish for Sanjay Dutt. Keeping in reverence of her and her husband, Dilip Kumar’s deep friendship with Sanjay’s father, Sunil Dutt, Saira did not forget to wish the actor on his special day. Sharing a clip from one of Sanjay’s films, Saira captioned it with a note, where she recalled witnessing him grow up from a toddler to the mature man that he is. Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar’s friendship with Sunil Dutt leaped bounds when the couple came forward to help the latter during one of his most difficult times. Well, back in the day, Sanjay Dutt was accused in the 1993 Bombay blasts under the TADA Act. He was even jailed and had to serve 42 months of rigorous imprisonment in the Yerwada jail. All this time, while Sanjay’s father, Sunil was doing everything in his capacity to save his son, he also received immense help from Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. Speaking about the same, Sunil Dutt, during the show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai had mentioned:
“During our troubled times, jab Sanju ki problem chal rahi thi, Saira ji and Yusub saab jaise apna bachcha hota hai na. Main kayi baar, jab pareshan ho jata tha toh Yusuf saab ko milne chala jata tha toh jab main baatein karta tha toh I could see the tears in his eyes. Jaise apne bachche ko takleef ho rahi hai aise mehsoos karte the Yusuf saab aur Saira ji dono."
Sunil Dutt faced testing times when his son, Sanjay got imprisoned under the TADA case. While he left no stone unturned to do everything in his capacity to ensure the well-being of his son, there were at times when he would feel very troubled and run upto Dilip Kumar for his moral guidance. Recalling the same, Sunil Dutt once mentioned in one of his interviews, how Dilip Kumar always praised him for staying strong and never giving up.

Sanjay Dutt, too, shared an exceptional bonding with Dilip Kumar. Apart from the latter sharing a great bond with the former’s father, Sanjay and Dilip had also shared screen space once, in the 1989 film, Kanoon Apna Apna. However, when Dilip Kumar passed away in 2021, Sanjay Dutt was totally shattered in grief, and he considered it like theloss of his father figure. He even remembered spending many fond moments with him.
