Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder at his Bandra home on January 16, 2024. Since then, the Mumbai Police Department and Crime Branch have been looking for the attacker. According to a new update, the Mumbai Crime Branch has now alleged that the Bandra Police did not take the knife attack on the actor seriously. They even said that the Bandra police did not alert the other units to nab the intruder who was absconding.
A report by Hindustan Times stated that the attack on Saif was slammed by many senior officers from Mumbai Crime Branch. They alleged that swift action could have caught the suspect. An internal source also revealed that the intruder ran away because of a lack of coordination with the crime branch and the Government Railway Police (GRP). A senior officer told the publication that it seemed like a complete failure of the Bandra police, who did not take the incident seriously and also did not alert the other police stations nearby and the crime branch to nab the culprit as soon as they came to know about the incident.
The stabbing incident on Saif took place at 2 am on January 16, 2024. The Mumbai Crime Branch reportedly was told about the incident at 6 am. The senior officer also told the publication that if nearby police stations and patrolling vans were alerted, the suspect could have been nabbed in the night when the roads were clear. The officer also stated that the cops came at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital 2-3 hours after the incident. Saif's treatment at the hospital started around 4 am while the other officers visited the crime scene around the same time.
The Mumbai Crime Branch officer also claimed that the immediate First Information Report (FIR), along with the CCTV clippings, was not shared with the crime team on an immediate basis. An immediate alert to all police stations was missing during this high-profile case.
Now, a new snap of Saif's alleged attacker has surfaced on social media, two days after the attack incident took place. As seen in the screenshot from the CCTV video, he was spotted wearing different clothes as he was seen in the earlier snaps. In the earlier picture of the attacker, he was seen wearing a blue shirt and then was seen in a yellow t-shirt. Mumbai Police has alleged that the attacker took a train from Bandra to travel around Mumbai from one place to the other. The police force is scanning multiple CCTV clippings from varied railway stations to track down the alleged criminal.
