Sabyasachi Mukherjee Thanks 'Partner' Kumar Mangalam Birla For 'Safeguarding' His Brand's Legacy

Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a renowned face in the world of fashion. The designer, who has always wanted to do something exceptional with his love for art and culture, had worked hard on his part to make his brand stand out in the crowd. So much so that the brand, Sabyasachi has global recognition now. A few days ago, Sabyasachi celebrated 25 years of his journey in the fashion world. After the same, the designer and his team extended their thanks to industrialist, Kumar Mangalam Birla for helping him in fulfilling his dreams and carry forward his legacy.

On February 4, 2025, Sabyasachi Mukherjee took to his IG handle and shared a note, wherein he thanked the Birla family and specially Kumar Mangalam Birla. In his note, the designer shared how the Birla family contributed to nation-building, along with preserving art, culture, and education in India. Sabyasachi wrote that although his and Kumar Mangalam Birla's lives were different, it was their shared values of the importance of preserving art and culture, which bound them.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee mentioned that there's no better partner than Kumar Mangalam Birla that he could ask for. He further thanked Kumar Mangalam Birla for helping him, and taking forward his legacy even beyond his lifetime, and also fulfilling their shared dream to create India's first global luxury brand.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd holds 51 per cent stakes in Sabyasachi Mukherjee's luxury brand

While Sabyasachi Mukherjee didn't reveal what kind of help he received in his thank note, very few people know that Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd has a 51 per cent stake in the designer's luxury brand. It was in 2021, when Sabyasachi sold 51 percent stakes to ABFRL.

On January 27, 2021, ABFRL announced its partnership with Sabyasachi's brand and added that the platform will help the brand to be a global luxury house out of India, with the aim to build a huge ethnic wear business in the coming years. Talking about the same, the owner of Sabyasachi, Sabyasachi Mukherjee said that no sooner did his brand start to grow, he was on the search for the right partner to ensure continuity and long-term sustainable growth for his brand, and he now found the same in ABFRL with the partnership of Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee's 25th-anniversary show was nothing short of epic

It was a few weeks ago when Sabyasachi celebrated his 25-year-long journey with a show in Mumbai. The show featured a ramp walk, and Deepika Padukone opened the show with her 'Rekha-coded' look. During the ramp walk, the famous models wore Sabyasachi's best collections for his 25th anniversary. Famous actresses from Bollywood were also a part of the show.
