Rubina Dilaik is one of the most popular 'bahu' on Indian television. She is mainly known for playing the roles of 'Radhika Shastri' in Chotti Bahu and 'Soumya Singh' in Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. The actress has won hearts with her powerful acting performances, versatile roles, and upfront attitude. In her personal life, Rubina is married to actor, Abhinav Shukla, and the couple became parents to twin daughters last year. Since her pregnancy, Rubina began her podcast, Kisine Bataya Nahi. In a recent episode of her podcast, the actress revealed how she began receiving 'bhabhi' roles after embracing motherhood.

Rubina Dilaik speaks out on shift in role offers post-pregnancy

Recently, Rubina invited TV and film actor, Sharad Kelkar to her podcast. During their conversation, they discussed work, personal life, and how an actor's life changes after embracing parenthood. Rubina began the conversation by saying that female actors are categorised in the industry when they become parents. She was quoted as saying:

"When female actors welcome kids, they are being categorised in a certain way."

The actress added that such scrutiny doesn't happen with male actors, to which Sharad agreed and mentioned that male actors have a little more shelf life for playing lead roles than females. He shared that female actresses go through physical changes and become the focus of public scrutiny. Sharad said fitness wasn't crucial for actors but that has become necessary with time. The actor went on to mention other actresses, including Rubina, complimenting her for returning to her pre-pregnancy physique after childbirth. In her reply, Rubina revealed she has started getting 'bhabhi-type' roles. In her words: 

'I have started receiving bhabhi-type roles. I am not talking about weight or physical appearance, but I want to say that talent doesn't go after embracing motherhood.'

Rubina Dilaik shared that it is overwhelming to manage work and motherhood 

In a previous interview with ETimes, Rubina shared that motherhood has changed her life. She mentioned how she has been focusing on balancing motherhood and work. But, it has been challenging. The Bigg Boss 14 winner admitted that she is a workaholic and that being a mother hasn't been easy. She said: 

"Now my attention has to be divided between my career and personal life because my daughters need that attention. It is challenging and overwhelming at times to manage everything. I've realised that brain fog is real- I tend to forget a lot of things, but eventually, it helps because that way I can slow down. Being a mother is not easy. To nurture new lives, I have to be at ease and get out of that rigorous cycle that I've been following for so long."
