Ronit Roy is a name that needs no introduction in the Indian television industry. In the past three decades, he has won a lot of hearts with his powerful and amazing roles in both television and films. Recently, the actor made headlines when he spoke about the show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.
In July 2025, Ekta Kapoor made the decision to bring back the OG television show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, which will be premiering after almost 25 years. The show is already generating a lot of buzz, as a few familiar faces like Smriti Irani are coming back on screen. But amid all those familiar faces, actor, Ronit Roy has confirmed that he won't be reprising the role of 'Mihir', but is happy that the show is coming back and has wished the team all the luck. In an interview with ETimes, he said:
"I am happy that they decided to bring back Kyunki. Unfortunately, it did not work out for me, but, of course, Kyunki is a show that has been very close to my heart. I did Kyunki for eight years of my life. And I wish the cast and crew of Kyunki, and the makers, the very best. Looking forward to watching it."
Apart from this, Ronit also spoke about how the television world has changed in the past 25 years. He mentioned that he is not against doing a long-term show on television, but he is waiting for some more meaningful changes in the TV industry and then probably he will be back on television. He shared:
"So I'm not averse to doing a long show or being on television for a long time. However, as I mentioned, there is still much to be desired on television. 25 years since I began. The world has changed. Some things need to be fixed regarding television. So once that happens, I will likely be back. Till such time, I'm happy where I am."
Ronit Roy was born on October 11, 1965, in Nagpur. He pursued hotel management but was always inclined towards acting. He began his acting career with the film, Jaan Tere Naam, which got him decent recognition. Despite the recognition, it did not lead him anywhere, which made him enter the television industry.
The turning point of his acting career came with Ektaa Kapoor's iconic show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Initially, Amar Upadhyay played the role of 'Mihir', but when he left, Ronit Roy joined the cast to fill the gap. This role made him a household name and he gained a lot of love and praises for it. That one role established him as one of the most respected actors in the Indian television industry.

After his success in the show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, he played the role of 'Mr. Bajaj' in the show, Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Over the years, he went on to do impactful roles in shows like Bandini, Adaalat, and Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar, where he just got more and more love from audiences.
Gradually, Ronit Roy shifted his attention towards films. In 2010, he appeared in the Anurag Kashyap film, Udaan, in which his performance earned him several awards. Later, he starred in hit films like Student of the Year, Boss, 2 States, Kaabil, Ugly, and Jai Lava Kusa.
