Rohini Acharya Disowns Family Days After Brother, Tej Revealed He Is Not Talking To Their Parents

The recent Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 have not only handed Lalu Prasad Yadav's party, RJD a defeat, but it has also shaken the family dynamics of the former Chief Minister of Bihar. Recently, in a shocking move, his daughter, Rohini Acharya, announced that she was quitting politics and disowning her family. This statement of Rohini Acharya has come a few days after Lalu Prasad's eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav, revealed that he is not on talking terms with his parents.

Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from his family-led party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, after he posted a photo with his alleged girlfriend of ten years, Anushka Yadav. He later claimed that his FB was hacked. The eldest son of Lalu Prasad Yadav then created his own party, Janshakti Janata Dal. In the recent Bihar elections, Tej Pratap stood as a political rival against his younger brother and RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav. Amid these complicated family dynamics, Tej Pratap made a rare comment about his parents. 

In a recent Unfiltered by Samdish interview, the host asked Tej Pratap if he is talking to his parents, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, now. The JJD leader said a firm no. The host then prompted, "Bilkul v nahi?", and Tej Pratap nodded. However, when he was prodded further to talk about his family, Tej Pratap remained silent. Earlier in the interview, the estranged brothers, Tej and Tejashwi, had crossed paths at the airport while on their way to campaign. The leader of RJD greeted and joked with the host, while Tej Pratap maintained his distance, looking on from afar. This moment between the brothers has been going quite viral.

As the conversation around Tej Pratap's distance from his family is still going on, his older sister, Rohini Acharya, has announced that she is also disowning her family. Her step comes in the wake of her former party, the RJD, losing the polls. However, as per an India Today report, this move was't sudden. She had unfollowed the X handles of RJD, Lalu Prasad, and Tejashwi Yadav months before the elections.

Rohini had also made many subtle comments on social media criticising some of the moves of her former political party under her youngest brother, Tejashwi Yadav. Meanwhile, when Tej Pratap filed his nominations for the elections from Mahua, she had given him her blessings. For the unversed, Tej Pratap also lost his seat from the Mahua constituency in the polls. Taking to her social media handle, Rohini had shared the news about disowning her family and said:

"I'm quitting politics and I'm disowning my family … This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do …and I'm taking all the blame."
