Ex NBA Star, Robert Horry's Relations: First Wife Keva Develle, Lost 6 Months Baby, Married Candice

Kobe Bryant was one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Now, Robert Horry, his teammate who had won seven NBA championships, recently revealed how Kobe used to consume energy drinks before matches and then crash and become fatigued. Robert, apart from Kobe, is one of the rare players who has also played with great individuals such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O’Neal, and Tim Duncan on court. Robert had played 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association.

Well, Robert had many feathers in his cap, but his personal life did not take as much of the limelight, just like his life on the court. However, it is interesting to note that Robert's personal life was not a smooth sail as before he was married to Candice Madrid, in the journey of parenthood with Keva Develle he did face loss as a father which had tore him apart to pieces.

Robert Horry was first married to Keva Develle

Before Robert was married to Candice, his former wife was Keva Develle. The pair got married in 1997 and the marriage lasted till 2011. Robert's marriage to Keva got joy and grief at the same time. The pair had four kids together, but sadly, their eldest daughter, Ashlyn, born on April 2, 1994, passed away because of a rare genetic disorder called Deletion Syndrome. It was on June 14, 2011, when Robert lost his daughter at the mere age of 17.

Rober and Keva were blessed with sons- Camron and Christian Harry. Christian had committed to play basketball for the University of California, Los Angeles back in 2024. The pair also have a younger daughter called, Jade. After winning his first NBA championship, Robert had been to the neonatal intensive care unit at Texas Children’s Hospital with his wife. Their late daughter, Ashlyn, was less than six months hooked to oxygen, and Keva in her memoir called Glamorous Sacrifice: Life in the Shadow of Championships had written:

"The visit was brief that night, but it was long enough for a good dose of humility. What being Ashlyn's mom taught me was to find the joy in the little things. It was an opportunity to reassess life, to appreciate life, and to live life a little slower – I feel like I really know what life is about. Ashlyn was an angel sent from heaven to give me, Robert and Camron (their son), and so many others the unconditional love that can only come from a loving God.”

In her memoir, Keva stated that Ashlyn came into their lives when Robert was in his first year of the NBA and was Keva's senior. Keva was 22 back then, had Robert as a boyfriend, and then morning sickness took over. She shifted to Houston to be with Robert and start her life as a mom. After the ex-pair was blessed with Ashlyn, she had trouble breathing and swallowing. There were IV sticks in her veins, surgery top open and remove her epiglottis, tracheostomy. Her chromosome was missing, and doctors said she would never walk, eat with her mouth open, go to the washroom, or have a college life as she would not live beyond infancy. Robert was devastated seeing these things, and in the memoir said:

"We all envision our own perfect worlds and picture what that might look like. But life is life. Even though we were privileged in terms of financial resources, that still did not exclude us from life – nothing does. In the end, money cannot solve all your problems.”

Robert Horry's ex-wife, Keva Develle, called him 'reserved'

Robert had moved ahead from the loss of his daughter and had undergone the tragedy of not continuing his relationship with Keva. However, she had always said he was committed towards the family, rose through hardship and was a reserved person. He used to miss his basketball practice sessions to be with his daughter.

Robert Horry found love for the second time in Candice Madrid

It was on  September 29, 2019 that Robert and Candice got married who was his longtime partner. The pair had their wedding in Santa Monica, California, and their marriage setup had an oceanic backdrop. He reportedly met Candice during his early basketball years when he was carving his niche after completing studies from the University Of Alabama. Robert's second wife is from Southern California, and she had earlier told people:

“I’m from Southern California so the beach, the palm trees, the beautiful sunset…it seemed like the perfect place to bring friends and family together to celebrate."

Robert Horry and Candice Madrid always wanted a simple wedding

Robert and Candice always wanted a simple wedding and to celebrate their love in front of their family members. The pair wanted their friends and family to come together, from Texas to Los Angeles, and all the different areas, and just have a good time. It was of utmost importance to them. For Robert, Candice has always been like his best friend, as he had told the publication, feeling blessed to be able to wake up and face the day with your best friend. He felt grateful to know that Candice has his back and that he is spending his forever with his true love.
