Riyan Parag Reacts To His Viral Search History Controversy Related To Sara-Ananya, 'No One Would...'

Riyan Parag is a famous Indian international cricketer who plays for the IPL team, Rajasthan Royals. It was back in 2018 when this right-handed batsman's contribution led India to win the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Well, it was last year when Riyan made it to the headlines with a controversy around him, when his viral search history on YouTube surfaced. While Riyan kept up with his dignified silence, he recently opened up about the same.

Riyan Parag breaks his silence about the controversy around his viral search history related to Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan

Recently, Riyan Parag sat for an interview with City1016 Radio, wherein he was asked about the controversy around him for the first time. The cricketer shared that during that time, he finished the IPL and got on a Discord call with his streaming team. He shared that one of the Discord team members tried to set him up before IPL. Riyan added that when after the IPL, he opened his stream, nothing was there, and everything was deleted, including Spotify or Apple Music. Riyan can be quoted as saying:

"I finished the IPL, we were in Chennai, finished the match, got on a Discord call with my streaming team, and it got publicised now, but it happened before the IPL. One of the people in my Discord team tried to set me up before the IPL, but that got taken down very quickly. But then after the IPL, the hype was there, and I had a good season. I came and opened my stream, I didn't have Spotify or Apple Music. Everything was deleted."

Going forward in the interview, Riyan Parag mentioned that even when he tried to put music on YouTube, he couldn't understand what was happening. The cricketer added that when the stream was over, he was shocked to see what had happened. Talking about the controversy, Riyan shared that it was blown out of proportion and he didn't feel it was good enough a reason to talk in public about it, as no one would have understood. In Riyan's words: 

"So I went on YouTube to put on music, and I searched for music. But I didn't know what was happening, but once I did the stream ended, I was like Oh s**t! This happened. It just got blown out of proportion. I didn't think it was good enough a reason for me to go out publicly and clarify everything and no one would understand."

What happened with Riyan Parag's search history last year

It was last year when, soon after the IPL was over, Riyan Parag's name made it to the headlines. The reason behind the same was that during a live streaming Riyan's search history was seen by the eagle-eyed netizens. The search history included Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan's names, and thus, the incident was blown out of proportion. Well, as per the recent clarification of the cricketer, he feels this incident was widespread because of the IPL Finale and the winner, KKR, hitting all the headlines.

Riyan Parag's professional front before and after the controversy

Before the controversy, Riyan Parag was winning hearts with his swift cricketing skills. Apart from being a batsman, Riyan is also capable of right-arm leg spin and off spin. Well, in IPL 2024, 573 runs in 14 innings including four fifties. His top score was 84 not out. RR finished in the third position last year, and this year, in 2025, he will continue with the same franchise. After the controversy, Riyan made his debut ODI match in Sri Lanka and also was seen in India’s T20I series against Bangladesh.
