Along with the pictures, Riteish had penned a heart-melting note in the caption, which could be read as:

"I want to … I want to hug you tight, wish you happy birthday, touch your feet and be blessed. I want to … I want to see you laugh, pat my back by and say I am always there. I want to… I want to hold your hand, walk with you, press your feet and gaze at you. I want to… I want to see you play, share a joke, carry your grand kids and tell them a story… I so badly want to…. Happy Birthday Pappa - I miss you!!! #vilasraodeshmukh."

Back in 2013, in a heart-to-heart interview with the DNA, Ritiesh Deshmukh had opened up about how he had managed to cope with the massive loss of his father's demise. Answering this, Riteish had explained how it's the biggest loss in a person's life, and nothing else can match the pain a person goes through when they lose their parent. Then, reflecting on his personal suffering, he had shared:

"I don't know how to answer that. It's an irreparable loss. You can't compare it to anything. It's really strange that suddenly a person is not there in your life and then you realise — I won't say value because as a child you always value your parents — how life will never be the same again. There is a huge void. Sometimes I still feel he is there."

For the unversed, it was on August 14, 2012, when Vilasrao Deshmukh had passed away due to multiple organ failures in a hospital in Chennai.
