Rishi Kapoor had announced that he is taking a sabbatical from work because he is going to New York in September 2018 for the treatment of an ailment. Earlier, speculations were rife that Rishi Kapoor is suffering from cancer but later it got confirmed. But the good news is that reportedly, Rishi Kapoor is coming back to India with his wife, Neetu Kapoor in September 2019.

Rishi Kapoor's latest video and picture on social media are going viral on the internet. Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter to reshare a Boomerang video (originally shared by a family friend) from a dinner date with Neetu Kapoor and daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni last night in New York. Recently, there were reports floating around about his return to India. A media report had claimed, "A source tells us that the veteran artiste is on his way to recovery and will be returning to India this September." And then, it was on May 31, 2019, when Rishi Kapoor had tweeted an emotional post about missing his home. He had tweeted, "Today I complete eight months here in New York. When will l ever get home?"

Rishi Kapoor, during a chat with the Deccan Chronicle, had shared how his family has supported him. He was quoted as saying, "Neetu has stood by me like a rock. Otherwise, I am too difficult a person to handle as far as food and drink are concerned. My kids Ranbir and Ridhima have really shouldered my problems." He had further added as to how his patience was never exhausted, "A person like me who has never had patience, this is God’s way to teach me patience. Getting well is a slow procedure. But it makes you grateful for the gift of life."
In another interview, Rishi Kapoor had shared that he is in remission. Rishi ji had retorted, “My eighth month of treatment started on May 1 in the US. But God has been kind! I am in remission, meaning now I am cancer-free. I will have to do a bone marrow transplant, which in all probability should take another two months minimum. Being in remission is a big thing and it’s all because of my family and my fans prayers and duas that have worked. I thank them all.”
Rishi ji's son, Ranbir Kapoor, during the Zee Cine Awards which concluded recently had talked about his father and had said, “Whenever I speak to him, he only talks about movies. He only talks about ‘how is this film?’, ‘how is this film doing?’, ‘how is this performance?’, what are you doing in this scene? And more so, he speaks to me about his insecurities that when he gets back, will he get to work in movies? Whether people will offer him films? Will he be able to act in movies?”
Rishi Kapoor had made our hearts skip a beat when he had shared about his break from work and going to New York for some treatment. He had tweeted, “Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years ‘plus’ of wear and tear at the movies.
