Man Who Saved Cricketer, Rishabh Pant After Horrific Car Crash, Attempts Suicide With Girlfriend

Rishabh Pant had a terrible car crash in December 2022 on the Delhi-Dehradun expressway. However, the then-22-year-old man, Rajat Kumar, helped him to reach the hospital on time. According to the latest developments, Rajat, who is 25-year-old attempted suicide along with his girlfriend. Many reports claim that his girlfriend has passed away while the man is critical. 

Rishabh Pant's saviour tries to end his life by committing suicide

On February 11, 2025, Rajat, one of the two men who helped Rishabh Pant reach the hospital on time, attempted suicide with his girlfriend (name not disclosed). While Rajat is critical, his girlfriend passed away after taking the extreme step at Buchcha Basti village in the Purkaji police station area of Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district. 

According to sources, Rajat and his girlfriend have been in a relationship for the past five years. They wanted to get married but their families, who belonged to different communities, were opposing their union. The sources further stated that the couple took extreme steps as the girl was set to be married somewhere else. The source revealed:

"Both used to talk on the phone for hours but since they belonged to different communities, their families were unhappy with this relationship. The girl was set to be married somewhere else."

Not only this, reports claim that the girl's family had stopped her from meeting Rajat, whose family were also opposing their relationship and were planning to marry him to a different girl. A resident of their village found them in a distressful situation and immediately informed others. By the time their families arrived, the damage was done. They were rushed to a local hospital. Talking about the nerve-chilling incident, the source revealed:

"The two were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where the girl died. The girl's mother has accused Rajat of killing her daughter."

When Rajat Kumar helped Rishabh Pant reach hospital on time after his horrific accident

It was on December 30, 2022, when Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar helped the cricketer, Rishabh Pant, escape from the burning vehicle after his car crashed on the Delhi-Dehradun highway near Roorkee. The Indian cricketer suffered serious injuries, but he was saved miraculously. The reports also claimed that as a token of gratitude, Rishabh Pant had gifted scooters to both of them. 

Rishabh penned a thank you note for the two heroes who saved him on the night of the fatal accident. He wrote:

"I may not have been able to thank everyone individually, but I must acknowledge these two heroes who helped me during my accident and ensured I got to the hospital safely. Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar, Thank you. I'll be forever grateful and indebted."
