One of the most anticipated films of the year, Kantara: Chapter 1, has generated considerable excitement among fans. Following the recent release of the trailer, the film has once again garnered significant attention. As the film is set to release during the festive season of Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti, fans are thrilled to witness the folklore.
There have been numerous accidents reported during the shooting of Kantara Chapter 1, and Rishab Shetty has recently addressed the issue. During a recent press meeting in Bangalore, Rishab Shetty, who plays the titular role in the film, spoke about the same and stated:
“We haven’t slept properly for 3 months because of continuous work. Everyone including the direction team and the producers supported it as like their own film. Everyone who worked on the set owned the film and only because of that, we are here today. There have been many accidents on the sets which the media reported. In fact, if I count, I was about to die 4 or 5 times during shoot, the divinity we trust saved me and gave blessings to all of us”
Ever since the shooting of Kantara Chapter 1 began, multiple accidents have been reported. They died mysteriously, which led to a depressing situation around. Mimicry artist and actor Kalabhavan Niju, aged 43, passed away in June 2025 in Bengaluru due to cardiac arrest. In May 2025, actor, Rakesh Poojari suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 33.
A 32-year-old junior artist, MF Kapil from Kerala, was caught in the crosscurrent at the Souparnika River. Unfortunately, he could not be saved, and he passed away in May 2025. That is not all, in November 2024, a bus carrying 20 junior artists reportedly overturned in Kollur, Karnataka, severely injuring six of them. However, a source close to the film’s production spoke to Filmfare and denied the charges of injuries, labelling it a ‘minor accident’. Prior to that, an expensive set designed for Kantara: Chapter 1 was destroyed by heavy rain.
In January 2025, the crew of Kantara: Chapter 1 faced scrutiny from the forest department for allegedly disturbing the natural habitat of the Sakleshpur forest in Karnataka during the film's shooting. The production team was accused of blasting and cutting down trees. Following the charges, the film’s producers, Hombale Films, were required to pay a fine of Rs. 50,000 for disposing of film set items in the Karnataka forest.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is the prequel of the 2022 film, Kantara. The upcoming Kannada film will feature Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram, Kishore, Jayasurya and Bengali actor, Jisshu Sengupta.
