One of India’s favourite cricketers, Rinku Singh is nearing the end of his bachelor life. Yes, you read that right! The star is soon going to ride the marriage wagon. According to reports, Rinku is set to marry Samajwadi Party (SP) MP, Priya Saroj, with both families confirming the news. Here is what we know so far about the wedding preparations.

Families confirm Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj’s marriage

According to several reports, Rinku and Priya’s families met on January 16, 2025, in Aligarh, where the cricketer’s father has ‘meaningful talks’ with the latter’s family, finally leading up to their mutual agreement on the marital alliance. Tufani Saroj, Priya’s father and SP MLA from Kerakat, shared that no pre-wedding functions have taken place yet, though both sides exchanged shagun and gifts. Talking about the upcoming programs, Tufani Saroj clarified to PTI:

“No ring ceremony or pre-wedding program has been held so far.”

How Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj met

Coming to the connection between Rinku and Priya, they have known each other for over a year now. They were introduced by a mutual friend, whose father is also a cricketer. Talking about the same, Tufani Saroj told PTI:

“Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed the consent of their families for their relationship. Both the families have agreed to this marriage.”

When are Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj tying the knot?

As of now, there is no finalised date due to Rinku Singh’s prior commitments to cricket. Despite his busy cricketing commitments, Rinku Singh’s family has assured him that the wedding plans will be adjusted to not interfere with his professional commitments. Rinku will be playing in the T20I series against England starting January 22 and will soon join the IPL for the 2025 season.

Priya Saroj is a 25-year-old rising star in Indian politics, who was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2024 from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district. A former Supreme Court lawyer, Priya first captured public attention while campaigning for her father, Tufani Saroj during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Priya holds a degree in arts from Delhi University along with a law degree from Amity University, Noida. She is currently the youngest female MP in India.

After Rinku and Priya’s families formally met to discuss their wedding plans on January 16, 2025, it did not take long for the news to spread like wildfire. By January 17, 2025, social media was flooded with headlines of the two getting engaged. The craze went up to the extent that many fan pages started posting fake AI-generated engagement pictures of Rinku and Priya that went viral in no time. However, Tufani Saroj clarified that the two are yet to get engaged.

On his work front, Rinku Singh, who is currently a star player of SRK’s Kolkata Knight Riders, has a busy month ahead, with the upcoming T20I series against England, and IPL 2025.
