Richa and Ali are on cloud nine as they recently launched the teaser of their wedding documentary, RiAliTY. For the unversed, Richa and Ali tied the knot in a court marriage in 2020, and it was only in 2022, that they celebrated their union with their friends and family members. And now, in a recent interview, Richa opened up about why she and her husband opted for their marriage to be a secret for two and half years.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Richa Chadha was asked if it was a bit thrilling to keep her and Ali Fazal's marriage a secret for two years. To this, the actress mentioned that she and Ali had gotten married in the Special Marriage Act. For those who don't know, the Special Marriage Act forms a secular and non-discriminatory legal framework for marriage. The act allows the individuals to tie the knot without being bound by the customs and rituals of their different religions.

Talking more about her secret wedding, Richa mentioned that she and Ali got married during COVID-19. Elaborating more on the same, Richa stated:

"No, not really. First of all, we got married in the Special Marriage Act so in that, they display your name for a month. I think it’s an absurd rule to see because India is known for things like marriage-related problems like honour killing and whatever. And it gets issued publically and that’s the procedure of the special marriage act. So, it just happened to be secret and it was during COVID-19 where no one was going to the family court. And we thankfully got lucky because all these happen in the public domain and you can’t stop it actually.“

In the same interview, Richa Chadha was asked about her marital life with Ali Fazal. To this, the actress revealed that it's very nice and lovely. Revealing more details about her married life, Richa said that she and her husband have been sharing space, which is interesting. Talking more about the same, Richa shared:

"Very nice, it’s lovely. We live together. Today, the house was a bit of a mess because he had promotions for his film and I had promotions for my film. We both getting ready. So he was like, ‘Okay, this mirror has a light, so are you using that’. We were sharing space which is interesting.“

Earlier, in an interview with Zoom, Richa Chadha opened up about her husband and her similar values and mindsets. The diva called meeting Ali Fazal a miracle. She also said that although she and Ali come from different faiths, they have equal values and similar middle-class mindsets. The actress further added that she and her hubby's ideas are also similar; for instance, Richa stated that both she and her hubby never wanted a big fat wedding ever as they wanted people to enjoy their hearts out at their wedding.
