'Grateful To The CBI', Rhea Chakraborty's Lawyer Speaks Out After CBI Closure In SSR Death Case

Nearly five years after the tragic death of Bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report on March 22, 2025, putting rest to the speculations surrounding his passing. The report also absolved the late actor’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty and her family of any wrongdoings. Now, Rhea’s legal team, led by Satish Maneshinde, has spoken out about the same.

Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer expresses gratitude to CBI

In the aftermath of the submission of CBI’s closure report, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, senior advocate, Satish Maneshinde, released a statement expressing gratitude to the CBI for its exhaustive investigation. The celebrated advocate has been by the actress’s side throughout the legal battles that went on in the past few years. Maneshinde’s statement read:

“The CBI has filed a closure report in connection with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput after almost 4 years. We are grateful to the CBI for having thoroughly investigated every aspect of the case from all angles and closed the case. The amount of false narrative in the Social Media and Electronic Media was totally uncalled for. Due to the Pandemic, everyone was glued to the TV & Social Media in the absence of anything happening in the country. Innocent people were hounded and paraded before the Media and investigative authorities. I hope this does not repeat in any case.”

Maneshinde recalls Rhea Chakraborty’s misery behind the bar

Maneshinde’s remarks then pivoted to highlight the deep scars left by the intense media scrutiny that Rhea and her family faced in the wake of Sushant’s death. He called out media channels and audiences to cook up ‘false narratives’ against the actress through electronic and social media. He did not mince words about the toll it took on his client. Talking about Rhea’s 27 days of misery behind bars, Maneshinde remarked:

“I beseech the captains of Media to reflect upon what they did. Rhea Chakraborty to undergo untold miseries and was behind bars for 27 days for no fault of hers until Justice Sarang V. Kotwal released her on bail. I salute her & her Family for having kept silent and yet suffered the inhuman treatment they were meted. They came to me through a close friend and Defence personnel who are close friends of mine with whom I studied in a Sainik School. Both Rhea’s Family and My Team & I were hounded and threatened with danger to our lives. I must say nothing deterred us from carrying out our legal duties.”

CBI submits closure report for Sushant Singh Rajput case, rules out foul play

On March 22, 2025, the CBI submitted its closure report to a special court in Mumbai, which will now decide whether to accept the findings or order further investigation. The agency concluded there was no evidence to suggest anyone instigated Sushant Singh Rajput to die by suicide, effectively ending its probe. The report addresses two cases — one filed by Sushant’s family against Rhea Chakraborty, and another by Rhea against his sisters over an alleged fake prescription. Expert analysis from AIIMS ruled out any criminal conspiracy.
