Meet Reid Wiseman's Two Daughters Ellie And Katherine, They Feared For His Life Due To Moon Mission

For a father, nothing is more difficult than to tell his daughters about his will in the fear of what might happen tomorrow. But astronaut Reid Wiseman did the most difficult thing when he informed his daughters about his will. Despite being 219,669 miles away, Reid Wiseman's heart is at home with his two stars, Ellie and Katey. Read on to know all about his two daughters.

Meet Reid Wiseman's two daughters

Reid Wiseman is blessed with two daughters named Ellie and Katherine. Even after being 219,669 miles away from Earth, Reid kept thinking about his daughters. He had shared a post for them on X, which talks about how distance makes the heart grow fonder. He wrote:

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder…it didn’t take 219,669 miles to remind me how much love I have for Ellie and Katey. They have been incredible supporters during this journey, and they now fully understand why it was important for me to go explore into the unknown."

Not only this, before packing for the moon mission, Reid Wiseman found the most precious farewell gift by his daughters. He shared a photo of his daughter's gift, which was a pack of handmade cookies, and shared how his daughter snuck some of them into his luggage and he cannot take it. He wrote:

"When you are packing for the Moon and discover your daughter snuck some cookies she made into your luggage. My heart can’t take it."

However, the biggest emotional point in Reid Wiseman's life was when he had to inform his daughters about the will before leaving for the mission. It wasn't an easy task, he took his daughters on a walk and shared the information. It was for their safety as preparing for the worst was important for him before he left for the moon mission. As per reports, Wiseman told his daughters about the will and trust documents and what might happen if anything happened to him during the moon mission. Reid Wiseman said:

"I told them, 'Here's where the will is, here's where the trust documents are, and if anything happens to me, here's what's going to happen to you. That's just a part of this life."

Reid Wiseman stopped taking space mission after his wife fell sick

Reid Wiseman got married to Carroll Taylor Wiseman in 2003. However, she passed away in May 2020 after a five-year-long battle with cancer. Talking about Carroll she was a nurse, and had lived a life helping others. She worked as newborn intensive care unit registered nurse. For the family, Reid Wiseman made sure to be present for his family when his wife got sick. Without making it a big deal, he stepped away from his active assignments.

At that time, he was serving as deputy chief and then chief of NASA's Astronaut Office from December 2020, to keep himself grounded so he could be at home. Later, in 2022, he got back to flight rotation, and NASA selected him to command the historic moon mission. His life's biggest chapter was single parenthood. He has a long list of professional accolades, despite the fact that Reid considered his time as an only parent the biggest challenge and the most rewarding experience. 

However, it is worth mentioning that when Reid Wiseman got opportunity to restart his career in 2022, his daughters were uninterested. But soon they came on board with him flying again. However, the hardest part of the whole mission is the stress that his daughters went through, as the mission is not easy for the families more than the astronauts.
