Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Yash Dayal had found himself in rough waters recently. It was on July 8, 2025, when reports were rife that the cricketer had been booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to several news agencies, Yash was booked on charges of sexual exploitation, physical violence, mental harassment, and cheating by making false promises of marriage. However, it seems like the cricketer can now take a breather, as the Allahabad High Court has put a hold on his arrest.
The Allahabad High Court was in session for the first hearing of the case against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer, Yash Dayal, on July 15, 2025. The case of sexual exploitation was filed by a woman with whom Dayal was in a relationship. The case, Yash Dayal v The State of UP and 2 Others, was heard, and the Allahabad High Court decided to put a stay on his arrest.
A Division Bench of Justices, Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar noted that the relationship between Dayal and the complainant-woman continued for five years, which complicates the case. They added that it would be difficult to ascertain whether he had made any promise of marriage. The statement could be read as:
"We have perused the FIR, from which it is apparent that the relationship between the parties continued for a span of five years. At this stage, it is difficult to ascertain whether there was any promise of marriage or if there was any such promise, it was a false one from the very beginning with an intention to obtain sexual consent."
The Allahabad High Court further stated that Yash Dayal's arrest will remain on hold until the next hearing date or until the police file their report before the bench. This decision has come almost ten days after the report was first filed. The Court was quoted as saying:
"Till the next date of listing or till the submission of police report, whichever is earlier, the petitioner shall not be arrested."
The first information report was registered against cricketer, Yash Dayal, at PS Indrapuram, under BNS Section 69 on the charges of 'sexual exploitation, physical violence, mental harassment and cheating by making false promises of marriage.' According to the complaint, when the woman realised that she was being deceived by the cricketer, she tried to protest against the relationship. However, she was subjected to physical violence and mental harassment. During the relationship, the complainant was also allegedly exploited financially and emotionally.
