Ratna Pathak Shah Was In Disbelief That Satish Shah Died Two Hours After His Amusing Text '..My Age'

One of the much-loved actors, Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 on October 25, 2025. The actor, whose career spanned more than four decades, left his fans, friends, and family members heartbroken with his sudden passing. Initially, it was reported that Satish Shah passed away due to kidney failure, but later his co-star, Rajesh Kumar clarified and mentioned that the actor passed away due to a heart attack. Satish Shah's demise had caused a sense of grief among his Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai co-stars. And now, Ratna Pathak Shah revealed that she received an amusing text from the late actor, Satish Shah, just two hours before the shocking news about his demise left her in utter disbelief. 

Ratna Pathak reveals the amusing message she got from Satish Shah, just before he passed away

In a piece for the Indian Express, Ratna Pathak wrote that she received a WhatsApp message from Satish Shah at 12:57 p.m. on October 25, in which he wrote an amusing message, saying he often gets mistaken for an adult because of his age. To this, Ratna Pathak Shah replied at 2:14 p.m. that it's just right for him. It was only after a few hours that producer JD Majethia broke the news of Satish's passing, leaving the actress in utter disbelief. Ratna Pathak then recalled the message that she got from JD Majethia, which could be read as:

"At first, it felt like someone was pulling a fast one in terrible taste. As it sank in, it became even more unbelievable. Satish gone! A man determined to live life more fully, laugh at it and take every blow on the chin and come out smiling, gone!"

Ratna Pathak Shah was left in disbelief by what had happened, and she discussed it with her friends, who frantically started texting each other, not knowing how to react, in a state of shock themselves. Eventually, it was revealed that Satish, on that very day, dropped light-hearted texts to many of his co-stars and friends. For the unversed, the Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai cast have been really close to each other, even after years of the show going off air. Thus, the passing of Satish Shah came as a shock to everyone.

Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant

Initially, it was reported that Satish Shah passed away due to kidney failure, which was followed by the kidney transplant he received a few months ago. Later, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rajesh Kumar revealed that he was not in a state to talk about this, but one thing that he would like to clarify was that Satish Shah died of a heart attack and not kidney failure.

In an interview with News 18 Showsha, Sachin Pilgaonkar revealed that Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant earlier this year, in 2025. Sachin also said that the actor wanted to take care of his wife, Madhu, who has been suffering from Alzheimer’s. He also said the couple used to be very warm and lovable, recalling the moments when they attended movie premieres. Sachin also shared that now that Satish has passed away, the celebrations will be incomplete without him.
