Rashmika Mandanna Spoke About Her Breakup With Rakshit Shetty, Said, 'I Was Being Portrayed...'

Rashmika Mandanna is in the middle of the limelight, thanks to her upcoming wedding with the handsome Vijay Deverakonda. Rumours of their dating have been circulating ever since they started working together. But Rashmika and Vijay have always maintained a good-friend stance. But a few days back, Rashmika confirmed her wedding to Vijay.

But do you know that before falling in love with Vijay, Rashmika was in a relationship with actor Rakshit Shetty and the two got engaged too. But within a year, they called off the wedding and broke up. After their breakup, there were many rumours and blame game. After a lot of fiasco, Rashmika addressed her breakup with Rakshit.

When Rashmika and Rakshit announced their breakup, the actress faced a lot of brunt and social media attacks. The constant trolling was so overwhelming that she once decided to break her silence. Taking up to her social media handle, Rashmika broke her silence and penned:

“Sorry I've been silent for so long..but I've been watching a lot of stories, articles, comments, and trolls about me..it has been disturbing me on how I was being portrayed and everything blew out of proportion and yes I definitely don't blame you guys for it..because that's what you'd believe and I am not here to justify anything or anyone..just want to tell you guys that Rakshit, me or anyone in the industry should not go through this.”

There were rumours that Rashmika was quitting the Kannada film industry after her breakup with Rakshit Shetty. In her long note, Rashmika also addressed rumours of her quitting the industry and shared that, just as a coin has two sides, her story does too. She urged her trolls to let her work in peace and made it clear that she was not leaving the Kannada film industry.

Rashmika Mandanna made her acting debut in 2016 with Kirik Party, opposite Rakshit Shetty. During the making of the film, the two fell in love and started dating. Despite a 13-year age gap, the duo got engaged in 2017 in a grand ceremony. However, within a year, they called off the engagement, citing the reason of ‘incompatibility’. Despite their broken engagement, Rashmika and Rakshit maintained a cordial relationship.

Ever since Rashmika and Vijay starred opposite each other in superhits like Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, rumours about their affair had started doing the rounds. Although neither Rashmika nor Vijay has addressed these rumours, their cute camaraderie suggested they were head over heels in love. In October 2025, rumour mills had it that the couple had secretly got engaged in an intimate ceremony and would soon tie the knot. In January 2026, reports said the lovebirds were set to marry on February 26, 2026, with the ceremony taking place in Udaipur.

After years of denial, on February 22, 2026, Rashmika took to her IG handle and posted a note for her fans, who have been rooting for her and Vijay. She announced her wedding with the hashtag of 'VIROSH', which had been given to the couple by their fans. Her note can be read as:

“Our Dearest loves, before we made any plans, before we chose anything for ourselves you were already there. With so much love, you gave us a name. You called us ‘VIROSH’. So today — with full hearts, we name our coming together in your honour. We would like to name it —‘The Wedding of VIROSH’.”
