Ram and Leela in Sanjay Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) were madly in love with each other but as disheartening as it gets, the two couldn’t be together. In fact (spoiler ahead!), Ram and Leela tragically die in the end by shooting each other. The real-life Ram and Leela, a.k.a, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, lived a very different tale. Ranveer and Deepika started dating each other on the sets of this movie, and unlike their characters, they went on to happily live happily ever after! Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone dated for almost 6 years before getting married to each other on November 14-15, 2018, in Italy. We can definitely say that had there been no Ram-Leela, there would not have been the solemnisation of these two beautiful souls. In fact, it must be noted here that Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding date was November 15, 2018, which also was the release date of the movie, 5 years ago!

As much credit must be given to Ram-Leela, so much is due when it comes to the director of the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The director of the movie went on to cast Ranveer and Deepika in two more movies together- Bajirao Mastani and Padmavaat. Yes, Sanjay ji has been no less than a Cupid to Deepika and Ranveer. And guess what? Ranveer Singh has thanked Sanjay Leela Bhansali from the bottom of his heart at the Zee Cine Awards which will be telecasted on March 31, 2019. In a video from the same which has surfaced online, Ranveer Singh can be seen saying to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “Apne merko meri wife se bhi mila diya ar kya mangu mie apse (Because of you, I met my wife. What more could I ask from you?)”
Take a look:
Earlier, talking to the Hindustan Times, Ranveer Singh had said that his marriage with Deepika Padukone is his 'biggest achievement'. He had said, "Honestly, it’s an amazingly blessed time. I am really happy about everything but the best part of it all is that I’ve got married. You know, in spite of everything that has happened in my life, it’s the first time I feel that I have achieved something, ke maine life mein kuch kiya hai, kucch ukhada hai (laughs). It’s a really warm and wonderful feeling. I feel so grounded, secure and empowered. If feels as if I have a superpower now. With her on my side, I feel invincible and protected knowing that there’s someone who cares about me. Our relationship is really stronger and deeper than ever before." Ranveer Singh has always been vocal about his intense and crazy love for Deepika Padukone. Once, talking to Filmfare, he had called Deepika gharelu. He was quoted as saying, “She is so gharelu...I love it...I love it. I am telling you I am going to be the husband of the millennium. I am going to glide and breeze through it.”

Deepika Padukone, on the other hand, has also never shied away from talking about her marriage and Ranveer Singh. Commenting on whether life has changed post her marriage, the Padmaavat actress had quipped in an interview, "I’m a lot more grounded. I feel secure, I feel protected. When you’re in a relationship, there’s still a lot of nerves, you’re still unsure, no matter how long you’ve been dating. I guess, the terms boyfriend and girlfriend sound frivolous. Somewhere, it doesn’t carry that weight as marriage does. Today when we look at each other, there’s a sense of responsibility."
Deepika had also praised Ranveer in the interview and had talked about his contribution into their relationship. She had said, "We both bring a lot of stability in each other’s lives. I’d say he brings stability in mine. But I read him say in your interview that I bring stability in his life. He said that he wouldn’t have been able to handle the kind of success that came his way but for me. Similarly, he has played a large part in making this relationship successful. I was scarred. But he was so honest, so patient that he gave me grounding. I knew he was the person for me because he gives me comfort, stability and security. There’s never a moment of anxiety. When I call him and if he doesn’t answer my call, I don’t have to worry. It’s such a silly thing but yet such an important thing. I don’t have to worry about his whereabouts. I’ve lived with that fear for years before this." (Must Read: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Her Ex, Ranbir Kapoor And Alia Bhatt To Go On A Couple's Trip To US)
