Paris Olympics 2024 made Indians worldwide hopeful that the country's contingent would bring laurels home. While some players showcased their best performances and even clinched medals, others simply failed to do so, upsetting millions. One name that turned heads was the Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen. Despite his remarkable performance in the Paris Olympics, the 22-year-old shuttler, Lakshya failed to bag a medal and faced a tough defeat in the bronze medal match.
After Lakshya's unexpected defeat, the badminton legend, Prakash Padukone, who is the father of Deepika Padukone, criticised the shuttler and urged players to 'introspect.' Post the badminton legend's statement, his son-in-law, Ranveer Singh took to his Instagram account and shared his two cents on Lakshya's game in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.

For the unversed, Lakshya Sen made history as the first Indian male shuttler to reach the Olympic semi-finals in men’s badminton. Ranveer talked highly of the shuttler, raving about his agility, range of shots and grit. The actor also mentioned that Lakshya had been brilliant at the Olympics. Further, Ranveer highlighted that the shuttler is just 22, and penned:
"What a player! What endurance, what agility, what a range of shots, what focus, what grit, what smarts. Scintillating badminton on display! Its difficult to encapsulate just how brilliant he’s been at the Olympics. Missed out narrowly in a game of extremely small margins. But he’s only 22 and he is just getting started."
Meanwhile, Prakash Padukone, who mentored Lakshya, expressed his disappointment during media interactions after his defeat. He said that the players need to ask themselves if they are doing enough to win Olympic medals and not just ask for more from the federations despite their repeated defeats. He was quoted as saying:
"The players need to introspect, and not just keep asking for more from the federations. They need to ask themselves whether they are working hard enough, because all of these players have their own physios and all the facilities. I don’t think any other country, including the US, has so many facilities."
