Ranjeet born as Gopal Bedi is one of the most famous actors and directors. The actor has appeared in over 200 films and is famous for his villainous roles. However, his versatility is well-known in the entertainment industry, as he won the hearts of his audience with his positive portrayal in the TV series, Aisa Des Hai Mera.
Ranjeet is named among evergreen villains of the film industry. His portrayal of negative roles has often proved cathartic to the audience. So much so that his own father got mad at him for his role in his first film. The actor has played the antagonist in nearly all the major films produced between the 1970s and the 2000s. The actor began his career in 1970 and went on to portray some of the most memorable roles in films such as Hulchul (1971), Laila Majnu (1976), and Dharam Veer (1977). His last film was shot in 2019 co-starring Akshay Kumar, Housefull 4.
While known for his negative roles, he was thrown out of his house by his father, Dwarkaprasad Bedi after his first film. This was not because he was an actor but because his father got mad at him for molesting Raakhee on screen. Ranjeet made an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show post COVID-19 pandemic. During the show, the actor discussed a range of topics, including his father's reaction to his first film, Sharmeelee.
During the conversation, Ranjeet revealed how when his father saw his first film, Sharmeelee, he was extremely disappointed. He shared that Dwarkaprasad Bedi, was exeedingly upset with him for essaying a role of a molester. Ranjeet recalled his father's statement and added that Dwarkaprakash should have scolded him for playing such a role, and questioned him about what had pushed him to do it. He was quoted as saying:
"When I did my first film, Sharmeelee, my father threw me out of the house. He was like 'Baap ka naak kata diya.' He was mad at me because I molested Raakhee in the film. It showed me tearing her clothes and pulling her hair. He was like, 'If you had to act, you could have taken on a doctor, engineer, or police role; what have you done? What are you doing molesting a girl?'"

Ranjeet previously spoke to IANS and opened up about his stint in the film industry. He revealed that despite being in the film fraternity for over five decades he has lived on his own terms. He added that, despite his image as a 'villain', he has never been involved in a controversy and has lived a gracious life. He stated:
"I am completing 50 years in the film industry. I have lived life on my own terms. I did not have a godfather. Despite the image of a baddie, I have never been involved in any controversy throughout my career. I can say that I have lived very gracefully."
