Deepika Padukone's 8-hour work shift demand has raised a serious debate in Bollywood. The industry, which has no fixed work hours, and sometimes shooting may take several days and weeks, Deepika, who recently embraced motherhood straight away, shared that she wanted an 8-hour work shift. Soon, her condition was termed outrageous, and she had to leave two films. Now, Rani Mukerji opened up on Deepika Padukone's 8-hour work shift demand.
Recently, in an interview with ANI, Rani Mukerji opened up about the time when she made a comeback after the birth of her daughter, Adira. Rani shared that she had to shoot for the film, Hichki while taking care of her daughter, who was just 14 months old. She shared that she was still breastfeeding and would pump the milk in the morning and leave for the shoot. Recalling how she managed the shooting of the film, Rani shared:
"When I did 'Hichki', Adira was 14 months old, and I was still breastfeeding her, so I had to pump the milk and go in the morning, and I was shooting in a college in town. From my house in the suburbs in Juhu to that place, and the traffic takes about two hours. So I kind of made it a thing where in the morning I would leave at 6:30 after expressing my milk, and I would shoot. My first shot used to be at 8 in the morning and I used to wrap up everything by 12:30-1."
Rani Mukerji added that her unit and her director made plans to complete the shoot within 6-7 hours, and she would rush back to her home to be with her daughter. She completed the film in that way. Rani further stated that these things can be discussed through conversations. She said:
"My unit and my director, they were so planned that for those 6-7 hours I used to finish my shoot and before the traffic would start in town, I used to be home by 3 o'clock and I did my film like that. These things are up in conversation today because maybe people are discussing it outside. But this has been the norm with all professions. I've also done it where I have worked for certain hours."
Rani clarified that if a producer is fine with such a thing, then you can go ahead with the film, but if they are not, then don't do the film, as nobody is forcing anyone. She concluded:
"If the producer's okay with it, you go ahead with the film. If the producer's not okay with it, you don't do the film. So it's also a choice. Nobody is forcing anything on anybody."
