Rani Mukerji won a National Award under the category of Best Actress for her role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. The 71st National Film Awards brought together the biggest names in Indian cinema for a star-studded event at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Now, the actress stole the limelight as she wore an earthy-toned heritage saree from the shelf of Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the special night. However, do you know that Rani carried her daughter, Adira, with her for the special night?
The event did see President Draupadi Murmu present the silver medal to Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, Rani Mukerji, Ekta Kapoor, Karan Johar and Meghna Gulzar for their immense contribution to Indian cinema. Now, Rani's fans noticed that the actress wore a minimalistic golden chain with her daughter's name, which was a pretty ode to her daughter. The actress has often revealed that she keeps her daughter's life private, but did bring her nine-year-old daughter with her to the 71st National Film Awards.
Rani, by wearing the necklace, showed subtle respect for her role in Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway. In the movie, the actress played the role of a mom who fought to get the custody of her kids after the Norwegian authorities took them away. Rani kept her daughter, Adira, close to her soul during the most cherished moment of her life, and the golden chain that had the name of her daughter.
Rani, after the success of her film, Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway, appeared on Kareena Kapoor Khan's chat show, What Women Want, and revealed how she had always wanted to give her daughter, Adira, a normal childhood. She shared not want her daughter, Adira, to be subjected to the pap culture when she went out. Rani shared that she and Aditya shield their daughter from the pap culture and shared:
"No, superpower. I just very sweetly tell them, please don’t take baby's photos and they don't. They are very sweet. And they have been like this right from the very beginning. Because they know Adi is a private person, I'm a private person."
The actress strictly emphasised always wanting a normal upbringing for her daughter, as a child of famous parents always draws a lot of attention at home. Rani wanted her daughter, Adira, to understand the fact that her birth did not give her any 'special status'. Rani wanted Adira to carve her own niche in her life.
