Randeep Hooda is gearing up for the release of his film, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, which is the controversial biopic of the Hindu nationalist, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The movie also marks Randeep's directorial debut as the original director, Mahesh Majrekar, departed due to creative differences with the actor. For the unversed, Ankita Lokhande will also feature in the film as 'Yamunabai'.
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Randeep Hooda opened up on his experience of working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the film, Sarbjit. Talking about the same, he said that the actress had a very sincere presence on set but they didn't share a lot of scenes together. He was heard saying:
“She was great, very courteous, she does her job well. She’s all there, she’s very sincere about it. Although we didn’t have many interactions on set because a lot of my scenes were away from her, but whenever we did, she was all that she’s made out to be.”

Directed by Omung Kumar, the film, Sarbjit is a biopic of Sarabjit Singh, who was arrested by the Pakistan military on the grounds of terrorism and espionage in Pakistan. In the same conversation, Randeep also mentioned that despite the team's best efforts to make Aishwarya look plainer and real, they weren’t quite successful. He added that the actress looked unreal and said:
“They tried their best to make her look real, but she’s so unreal.”
When asked about the bond that he made with Sarabjit’s real family, Randeep shared that he formed a close relationship with Sarabjit’s sister, who is no more now. He further revealed that he even gave fire to her funeral pyre which was her last wish. However, Randeep added that he couldn't form a great bond with Aishwarya and said:
“While making the movie, more than Aishwarya, I formed a great bond with Sarabjit’s sister. She has passed away now, and her desire was that I come and give fire to her funeral pyre, which I did. I wish I had more time with her, she was a great lady, and she really looked after Sarabjit’s kids. They’re all well settled, I’m in touch with them. That movie had a real-life impact.”
