Ranbir Kapoor Drops Major Hints About 'Animal', Shares Timeline For Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Sequel

Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most loved celebrities in Bollywood. The actor is well-known for his roles in films such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Barfi!, Animal, Sanju, and Wake Up Sid. Recently, the actor has been hogging headlines for his upcoming roles in Ramayana, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's sequel, Animal Park, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War.

However, while Ramayana is all set to be released on Diwali 2026, and Love & War is also alleged to release in 2026, there has been no update on Sandeep Reddy Vanga's much-awaited sequel until now. Yes! Now, the Animal actor himself has shared some major details about the projects in a conversation with Deadline Hollywood.

Ranbir Kapoor shared some major hints about Animal Park

Ranbir Kapoor has been back in the A-league with several major projects lined up. The actor is currently balancing work on two big-budget releases: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Amid that, the actor has given an update on his next film, Animal Park. For the unversed, Animal, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, emerged as the highest-grossing film of the year in 2023. The film, while controversial, created massive waves across the country.

The film's end credits announced its sequel, titled Animal Park. However, there had been no updates on the film so far. That is, until now.  While there had been buzz around when the film would go on floors, Ranbir Kapoor has now given a date for it. During the conversation, Ranbir shared that the film's director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was currently busy with another project and would begin filming for Animal Park in 2027. He was quoted as saying:

"The director (Sandeep) is right now making another film (Spirit). We should start that film in 2027. It's a bit away."

Is the Animal film franchise going to be a trilogy?

In the same conversation, Ranbir Kapoor also shared the status of the script for the much-awaited sequel. The actor revealed that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is planning on turning the film into a three-part franchise. Talking about Sandeep's plans for the future of the Animal film series, Ranbir stated:

"He (Sandeep) just kind of flirted with what he really wants to do with the movie. He wants to make it in three parts. The second part is called Animal Park. We have been sharing ideas from the first film itself. How he wants to take the story forward."

Ranbir Kapoor about his role in the Animal sequel

In the same conversation, Ranbir Kapoor also shared some details about his character in the film. The actor revealed he is extremely excited because he will play a dual role in the upcoming film. Explaining the logic behind this, Ranbir shared that the antagonist undergoes plastic surgery, becomes a body double, and starts looking like the protagonist. He was quoted as saying:

"It's very exciting because now I get to play two characters, the antagonist and the protagonist. So extremely exciting project and an extremely original director, and I’m very excited to be a part of it."

The 2023 Animal starred Ranbir Kapoor alongside Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri, with Bobby Deol playing the antagonist. The film was a box-office success, grossing over Rs. 400 crore domestically. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the sequel ever since.
