Ram Charan's Wife, Upasana Konidela Reveals Her Family Has 'Constitution' To Settle Money Disputes

Ram Charan's wife, Upasana Konidela, is the Vice Chairman at Apollo Hospitals' CSR wing. Coming from the family of one of the pioneers of the health sector, Upasana keeps educating herself on how to manage the massive wealth. The businesswoman also revealed how her grandfather, Prathap C. Reddy, the founder of Apollo, had written a family constitution that helped them resolve money-related conflicts.

Recently, Upasana Konidela appeared on Masoom Minawala's podcast, wherein she revealed that her grandfather didn't want his family to fight over money-related issues. So, to avoid that, he curated a 'family constitution', which helps them resolve wealth-related bigger issues. Upsana explained:

"We started Secret Santa in our family with 38 people, now we have 44. Over the years, the family has grown, and getting to know them and spend time with them, not just at gatherings but being there for each other, that’s really important. Us being a family business and a business family, we have a family constitution written as well. We go back to that so that there are no fights over wealth. Wealth should never be the cause for any fight in our family. These are the laws that my grandfather put in place. We fight over smaller things, but the big things are all written and taken care of by him."

Further, in the same interview, Upasana talked about the importance of an 'organised approach and structure' to her life. She stated that she writes things down and tries to find solutions. She also has a life coach, who helps her guide through important moments of life. She said:

"I write things down, find solutions, check everything once again to see if I’m happy with it, bounce it off my life coach if I’m not confident about the solution. And then, after that, I execute. These exercises have helped me a lot in my life."

For the unversed, Ram Charan and Upasana tied the knot on June 14, 2012, in a grand wedding ceremony. The couple likes to keep their relationship away from the media limelight. However, Upasana often shares sneak into her happily ever after on her Instagram handle. 

In an old interview, Upasana Kamineni, who heads the CSR wing of her family’s healthcare empire, Apollo Hospitals, revealed why she chose to have her first baby at 34. During a conversation with iDream Media, the businesswoman highlighted the issue of women’s health and said that women generally don’t care about themselves. Further in the interaction, Upasana mentioned that she chose to have a kid late in her life, and she doesn’t regret her decision at all. The businesswoman went on to add that she is ready for round two whenever her doctor gives her the green signal. In Upasana’s words:

"I made a choice to have a kid late in life, and I don't regret it at all. That was my choice; that was my thing to do. And I'm ready for round two whenever my doctor is. My health, my choice."
