Actress, Rakhi Sawant, tied the knot with Adil Khan Durrani in 2022, following a traditional wedding ceremony. However, their marriage eventually disrupted, and the couple divorced each other in 2023. Not just this, Rakhi also accused him of infidelity, rape, and domestic violence. Her ex-husband is again in the headlines after he argued and made a shocking statement about marital rape.
In a recent interview with Times Now, Rakhi Sawant’s ex-husband, Adil Khan Durrani turned many heads with a shocking statement. It is not new for Adil to be in the spotlight, but this time he made an insensitive remark about marital rape that sparked a controversy. Not only did he deny the existence of it, but he also dismissed the importance of consent in a relationship.

When Adil Khan Durrani discussed more about marital rape, he said that a boy and a girl should not marry if they are unsure about anything. He also said that he has not come across any case of marital rape in a society. In his words:
“Jitna main dekhta hu, utna to marital rape nahin hota society mein. I know a lot of people and I have many international friends too and I have never heard of marital rape happening. There are very less cases of marital rape than actual rape.”
For the unversed, Rakhi Sawant accused her ex-husband of extramarital affairs and other allegations, including rape. Following the accusations, Adil was arrested from the former’s residence on February 7, 2023. The legal battle between Rakhi Sawant and Adil is still going on, and according to the latter, the next court hearing will be held in November 2024.
In another such incident, an Iranian woman also accused Adil Khan of rape and false marriage promises in February 2023. Reportedly, the 30-year-old woman came from Iran to India in 2018 for her doctorate in pharmacy. It was during this time that she met Adil. The woman said that Adil formed a closer relationship with her and made promises of marriage. After that, the couple also started living together. However, Adil showed no signs of a wedding and when the Iranian woman asked him about the same, he threatened and abused her.
