Rakesh Roshan Opens On Dealing With Throat Cancer From Daughter Sunaina 'She Went Through Illness..'

Filmmaker, Rakesh Roshan has seen his struggles both in personal and professional life. His daughter, Sunaina, battled cervical cancer, fatty liver disease, and brain tuberculosis. Rakesh, in his documentary titled, The Roshans, shared how his daughter became his strength when he underwent financial loss, which made him switch from acting to directing. He also had to face the wrath of a deadly shooting incident back in 2000, after Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was released. Rakesh's fight with throat cancer in 2019 was also not an easy sojourn.

Rakesh Roshan found his strength from his daughter, Sunaina

During a recent interview with News 18, Rakesh shared that his Sunaina became a pillar of support when tough times came on him. He said he had learnt a lot about dealing with struggles from her. In his words:

"She went through a lot of illnesses and surgeries since childhood. But she always been very brave and used to laugh at the face of hardships. She has always been a very happy person and that that taught me a lot. I believe that no matter what the situation is, we should be happy and content."

How did Sunaina Roshan make Rakesh Roshan positive in life?

Sunaina had given a tough fight to cervical cancer, fatty liver disease, and brain tuberculosis. She had documented her transformation journey on her Instagram. Her determination to fight inspired her dad, Rakesh when he faced health battles. Rakesh also shared that when he was diagnosed with cancer and became the prey of the shooting attack, he kept calm during the life-threatening incidents. He kept a positive attitude so that his near and dear ones were not overwhelmed by his situation and drew the power of resilience from his daughter.

How Sunaina Roshan was diagnosed with cancer?

Once Sunaina on HER Health Talks Channel shared her sojourn fighting cancer and brain tuberculosis, she said she was working with her dad as a co-producer when she noticed getting blood clots during her periods. Her mom suggested Sunaina visit a doctor. Sunaina then told her mother that she was diagnosed with cancer. Her mother was not ready to believe, but Sunaina was firm that she would stay strong and fight the deadly disease. Sunaina remembered being detected with lymphoma of the cervix which was one of the rarest cancers in the world. Sunaina was emotionally low as, due to the chemo treatments, she started losing hair. She recollected that she only asked one question whenever she entered the ICU: Will her hair fall? She revealed that the doctor may have gotten tired of her questions.

Rakesh Roshan shares his wife, Pinkie, supported him throughout

Rakesh shared that when he had undergone surgery for his throat cancer, he had worked out with his son, Hrithik, in the gym an hour ago before hitting the hospital. The procedure ended in the afternoon, and after a few hours, he started walking. The filmmaker credited his wife, who was another source of his mental strength. She stood by him at all times. He shared:

"She married me when I was earning Rs 200 as an AD. She took up 80 percent of the burden and said that she's happy with me," he said, adding that because of her and their children, he never brought work stress home. "
