Rajpal Yadav Defends Saurabh Dwivedi Over His Recent Joke About The Actor's Debt, 'Don't Criticise'

Rajpal Yadav is currently leading the headlines after the actor answered veteran journalist, Saurabh Dwivedi in a dignified way despite facing public humiliation. It so happened that Rajpal recently graced an award show hosted by Saurabh Dwivedi. During one of the segments, while Rajpal spoke about fluctuating currencies, Saurabh took a jibe at him, reminding him of his own financial woes, after which the journalist faced a lot of criticism.

As soon as the clip from the award show went viral, people started criticising Saurabh for his tasteless comment. And now, Rajpal Yadav has come out and spoken in his favour. Taking to his IG handle, Rajpal shared a video of himself speaking to the camera about the incident while defending Saurabh. He said:

“Saurabh and Zakir are like my younger brothers. They have always given me respect. They are my heart. We are artistes, journalists, painters, storytellers. We are always connected to each other. Saurabh made the entire auditorium stand up and applaud my work. Thank you, Saurabh. Please do not criticize Saurabh. Please do not hurt Saurabh's feelings. Hurting Saurabh's feelings means hurting my feelings. If you say anything about Saurabh, it will hurt my feelings.”

Salman Khan came out in Rajpal Yadav’s favour

Amid the whole fiasco, actor Salman Khan reacted to the controversy and came out in support of Rajpal Yadav. He heaped praises on Rajpal and reminded him that he is known in the industry for his notable work. He also assured Rajpal that he would keep getting plenty of work, and that too at the dollar rate.

During a recently held Chetak Screen Awards, Rajpal Yadav was seen speaking about global chaos and fluctuating currencies. Responding to him, the host of the award ceremony, Saurabh Dwivedi, took a jibe at him and reminded him of his own dues as he said, ‘Rajpal bhai, no matter how much the dollar and rupee fluctuate, aapko utne hi paise lautane padenge jitne udhaar hain.’

Instead of feeling offended by Saurabh’s remark, Rajpal chose to react to the same in the most dignified manner. The actor burst into laughter and told Saurabh, ‘Main toh masla hi sunana chahta hoon.’ Though Rajpal answered the question with dignity, netizens weren’t too pleased with Saurabh Dwivedi’s distasteful comment and called out the veteran journalist for his mean statement on a public forum.

As soon as the video went viral, people started trolling Saurabh for his comment and hailed Rajpal for maintaining his dignity. A few others also pointed out the ‘uncomfortable silence’ after Saurabh’s comment. One of the netizens wrote, “Such an insensitive comment, but beautifully answered by Rajpal Yadav.”
