In the following years, Raj Kiran appeared in a series of renowned films made by critically acclaimed filmmakers that helped the actor become a household name across the nation. Some of his most popular films include Shikshaa, Maan Abhiman, Ek Naya Rishta, Karz, Baseraa, Arth, Raaj Tilak, Justice Chaudhary, and many more. For the uninitiated, Karz actor, Raj Kiran Mahtani got married to a lady named Roopa when he was working actively in Bollywood. Raj and Roopa led a peaceful life and were blessed with two daughters, Rishika Mahtani and Mannat Mahtani. Despite being the wife and children of one of the most popular actors of the 70s and 80s, Roopa and her daughters always preferred to stay away from the constant media spotlight. According to several reports, Raj Kiran's wife, Roopa, remarried after he disappeared, and no one was able to find him. Roopa Mahtani is now Roopa Mashruwala and is reportedly living her life with her second husband.

A few years back in 2011, Raj Kiran and Roopa's daughter, Rishika Mahtani, opened up about her father's health and shared some heartbreaking details about him. The doting daughter revealed that reports of her father getting treated in a hospital in Atlanta are false. Rishika added that they're still looking for their father, and he's not been found yet. She said:

"He is not in Atlanta. We have been looking for him for over eight years. We have involved the New York police and hired private detectives to find him. But he's not been found. He was the most loving father. Yes, he suffered from a bit of mental illness before he disappeared. We wanted to deal with this on our own, but those false reports forced me to come out in the open. I think this is totally unfair on my mother."

According to a report in Navbharat Times, Raj Kiran Mahtani went missing after the year 1994, and since then, no one has been able to find him. Apart from his wife and daughters, late Bollywood actor, Rishi Kapoor also tried his best to find Raj Kiran, but his claims stating that the actor was getting treated at a hospital in Atlanta are false. Fast forward to 2025, and no one knows where Raj Kiran Mahtani is.

For the uninitiated, Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan's ex-girlfriend, Somy Ali, is the founder of the non-profit organisation, No More Tears, which primarily operates in the US to stop human trafficking and domestic violence. When Somy Ali came across Raj Kiran's case, she promised Rishi Kapoor that she would find his close friend. Unfortunately, despite her best efforts, she couldn't find Raj Kiran. She said:

"I made a promise to the late Mr. Rishi Kapoor that I will make sure that I will never stop looking for the actor, Raj Kiran. I have spent 20 years trying to find him which included flying to various States paying my own money and at times borrowing it from my mom. So Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) could rest in peace and I will have fulfilled my promise. Chintuji and another actress tried to locate him as well, but couldn't do so."
