Rahul Dravid, popularly called 'The Wall' is one of the most renowned former cricketers and coaches on the Indian cricket team. His calm demeanor, skillful batting, and strategic approach gained much fame. The cricketer scored 24,177 runs in international cricket, and his excellent batting technique has made him one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Rahul hit another milestone in his career, this time as a coach when he guided the Indian cricket team to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 held in The USA and West Indies. In a new conversation, the cricketer revealed his plans and biopic.
Rahul Dravid had an inspiring journey into the world of cricket. For the unversed, Rahul's father worked for a company that manufactured jam while his mother was a professor of architecture at a university. He ventured into the cricket world while pursuing his MBA and never looked back. His journey and achievements, makes for a fantastic plot for a biopic that has become a popular genre of film in Bollywood.
Recently, Rahul attended the CEAT Cricket Awards, where he sat down for a Q&A session. In the session, he was asked whom he would like to see playing his role if his biopic was ever made. In his reply, the former batsman gave a witty answer. He said that he would love to play himself in a biopic if he is offered good money. He was quoted as saying:
"If the money is good enough, I will play it myself."
Rahul Dravid's term as the coach of the Indian cricket team ended after the ICC T20 World 2024. After the win, he was asked about his plans in multiple interviews. The cricket humorously said he was 'jobless' and would welcome job suggestions in his email. However, at the same event, Rahul shared an exciting update. The former coach said his wife wants him to stay at home and take care of their sons. Rahul Dravid is married to a surgeon, Vijeta Pendharkar, and the couple has two sons, Samit, born in 2005 and Anvay, born in 2009. In his words:
"My wife (Vijeta) wants me to be at home and take care of my boys."
Rahul Dravid was the head coach of the Indian cricket team from 2021 to 2024. At the event, he reflected on his term as a head coach and expressed his pride in guiding in major tournaments. He mainly reflected on the experience of travelling as a coach through the country for the 2023 ODI World Cup and said it was great to witness the fans' passion. In addition, he said his experience as a coach was phenomenal.
