Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani and his wife, Nita Ambani, hosted one of the most expensive weddings for their youngest son, Anant Ambani. For the unversed, Anant and his ladylove, Radhika Merchant’s wedding took place on July 12, 2024, at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. The entire nation was curious to see the lavish arrangements at India's wealthiest person's son's wedding.
In an interview with Vogue India, Radhika Merchant opened up about her grand wedding to Anant Ambani and shared interesting details about the same. She revealed that their wedding calendar was chosen with the utmost intent upon the advice of their family priest. The planning was overseen by Nita Ambani, her daughter, Isha Ambani, and her daughter-in-law, Shloka Ambani. Radhika said:

“The dates were strategically chosen from the 12th, 13th, and 14th of July upon the advice of our family pujari, who identified synchronic moments for our celebrations based on auspicious astrological alignments in both my charts as well as Anant’s. It was a meticulous process. My mother-in-law was the C.E.O. of the wedding, as I like to say. It was Nita’s commitment and vision that brought our entire celebration to life.”

Anant and Radhika's wedding began with the traditional jaimala, where the bride and groom exchanged garlands. It was followed by the kanyadaan ceremony, wherein Radhika's parents officially gave Anant their blessing to marry their daughter. After that, the bride and groom took pheras around the sacred fire. Talking about her traditional wedding, Radhika said:
"Our ceremony began with the traditional Jaimala, where Anant and I exchanged garlands, symbolizing our acceptance of one another. This was followed by the Kanyadaan, a pivotal moment where my parents entrusted me to Anant, signifying their blessings and consent."

Anant and Radhika looked super happy in each other's company at their wedding, and the bride felt connected to her tradition and culture. Talking about the Sindoor Daan and Mangalsutra ceremony, Radhika shared that it marked her new status as a married woman and she was excited to share this valuable moment with her loved ones. In her words:
"In the Sindoor Daan and Mangalsutra ceremony, Anant applied sindoor (vermilion) in the parting of my hair and tied the mangalsutra (a sacred necklace) around my neck, both symbols of my new status as a married woman. It created a tapestry of memories that we will cherish forever. I felt connected to my tradition and culture, and I was excited to share this moment with our loved ones."
The duo exchanged their personalised wedding vows and got emotional during the ceremony. Reflecting on the same, Radhika mentioned that their wedding vows included the promises of love, fidelity, prosperity, and mutual respect. After the ceremony, Anant and Radhika sought blessings from the elders. During the bidaai ceremony, the bride cried inconsolably as she left her family home to move into her marital home. Radhika said:
“Each vow encompasses promises of love, fidelity, prosperity, and mutual respect, creating a foundation for our married life. The ceremony concluded with the aashirwad, where we sought blessings from our elders, ensuring their good wishes for our future. Then, it was time for the bidaai - it's considered a bittersweet and sentimental moment that marks the start of the bride's new life as a wife and the end of her role as a daughter."

The Ambanis also hosted the Mangal Utsav on July 14, 2024, which marked the couple’s wedding reception attended by over 14,000 guests. Talking about her marriage to Anant, Radhika said that she is overwhelmed by the recent happenings in her personal life of lately. She added that she is excited to see what the future has in store for her and said:
"I have an overwhelming sense of fulfillment. We’ve been friends and confidants to one another for so long, and now we are finally embarking upon our official journey as a married couple. I can’t wait to see what our shared life has in store.”
