R Madhavan is one of the most admired actors in the Indian film industry. He made his debut more than two decades ago but has continued to gain appreciation from fans for his films like Tanu Weds Manu, Vikram Vedha, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and more. In a recent interview, the actor discussed his recent film, Hisaab Barabar, and admitted that previously, he used to keep a note of his bank balance in his passbook but gradually failed to keep track.
R Madhavan has been busy in the promotional spree for his newly released film, Hisaab Barabar, which showcases how minor calculation gaps uncover a corruption scandal. Sharing his personal experience over the issue, R Madhavan, in an interview with Rannvijay Singha for Mashable India, revealed that he initially used to monitor his finances through his passbook. However, with time, he lost the habit of keeping that track. In his words:
"I'm really insecure about my bank account. I really don't know how much I have and how much I can afford to scrutinise it because I don't know what will come of it. I have a broad understanding of (how much I have)."
R Madhavan also addressed the rumours about him owning an expensive yacht, revealing that they are untrue. He mentioned that he just owns a small, simple boat that is adequate to board his family, but not much. At the same time, the actor revealed that he always wanted to get a captain's license and planned to learn a new skill every year. Consequently, he studied for a few days amid COVID-19 and took exams to get a license and ride the boat with his family.
In a previous interview with Just Too Filmy, R Madhavan admitted that he isn't careful about spending money, and his wife, Sarita often calls him out for his habit of 'generously spending' his money. However, he feels he only buys things he can afford and doesn't want to buy extremely expensive possessions. The 3 Idiots actor said:
"My wife thinks I am generous to a fault. And I am a fool. And I don't know how to handle my money. She thinks I keep giving it away. I think I'm very particular about it, but she says not even from a remote corner. Are you particular about it? I spend what I have. I don't have worldly possessions; that is the reflection of my stardom. But I do have the liberty that this stardom offers me, and I enjoy it."
R Madhavan has a busy work front before him. The actor was last seen in the horror film Shaitaan with Ajay Devgn and Jyotika, and he has gained widespread appreciation for his role. He is busy promoting his newly released film, Hisaab Barabar, with Neil Nitin Mukesh. At the same time, the actor has Adhirshtasaali, Amriki Pandit, De De Pyaar De 2, and an untitled film with Akshay Kumar in the pipeline.
