PV Sindhu Opens Up On How Love With Venkata Datta Changed Her Life, 'Was Carrying Broken Pieces..'

PV Sindhu is a double Olympic medalist for whom Badminton has been her world, and even in that grind, she found love in Venkata Datta Sai, an entrepreneur from Hyderabad. The couple had an intimate wedding on December 22, 2024 at Udaipur. Their wedding was grand but also had a selected guest list at the same time. The excellent athlete recently revealed her life beyond sports and how she is always expected to win. Sindhu spoke about her love life and how Venkatta added value to her broken heart.

PV Sindhu opens up on carrying broken pieces of her heart

During a recent interview with the Bombay Times, PV Sindhu shared how her love, Venkatta, changed her life. She revealed that love has been the most beautiful surprise of her life, and even though Badminton is everything to her, she never really stopped to think about love. However, with Datta she said everything just clicked. In her words:

"He has changed my life in ways I can’t even put into words. I was carrying a lot of broken pieces for years until he walked in and made life feel magical again. His presence, his kindness, his constant support—it’s like he brought a whole new world of happiness into my life."

No one had any idea that PV Sindhu and Datta were in a relationship. When asked who had organised their match, she said it was almost love at first sight, but she is glad she and Datta gave it time to grow into something real and strong. Sindhu revealed that it was in 2022 when she and Datta had developed proximity, and it was one of those moments when it felt like a lost and hurt soul had finally found its home. From that point on, they went through their share of sacrifices, love, and growth together. However, her husband, Datta, said in the same interview that it was a mastermind move by his wife, and he got trapped as she used his love for sports to love her.

PV Sindhu opens up on what marriage means to her

Going ahead in the interview PV Sindhu revealed the importance of marriage in her life and what made her think that it was the perfect time to settle. She said that she was looking for stability and if she wanted to give her absolute best for another Olympic cycle, she knew she needed 100% stability in all aspects of her life—mental, emotional, and personal. In her words:

"I’ve always believed that when you have the right person beside you, everything else just falls into place. Datta has been my biggest cheerleader, my strongest support system, and someone who genuinely understands what it takes to live this life of a professional athlete. And when you find that, you don’t overthink—you just go for it. My father was getting stressed I was turning 30."

PV Sindhu's husband, Datta, further said that the whole marriage thing was truly incredible, and it went by super quickly. One minute they talked about it and the next they stood at the mandap.
