It has been over 20 days since the unfortunate stampede incident claimed the life of Revathi during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre on December 4, 2024. Revathi’s eight-year-old son, Shri Tej was also severely injured with no consciousness. Finally, after 20 days, the little one responded.
On Tuesday, December 24, Bhaskar, the father of eight-year-old Shri Tej, shared a hopeful update on his health. Speaking to the media, the emotional father shared that his son has finally responded to treatments and regained consciousness after 20 long days. Bhaskar said:
“The child responded after 20 days... he is responding today. Allu Arjun and the Telangana government are supporting us.”
Doctors at KIMS Hospital also updated Shri Tej’s health condition, informing that while he has regained consciousness and no longer requires ventilatory support, his recovery is far from complete. The child’s father shared that he has not been able to recognise any of his family members. Bhaskar told the media:
“He also opened his eyes but is not recognising any of us. Doctors told us that if the family members remain by his side and call him, he may recognize them. We have been making efforts since Monday but he is not recognising us.”
The medical team aiding Shri Tej at KIMS Hospital also released a health update on the hospital’s health bulletin. According to doctors, the eight-year-old has shown some body movement and remains stable without ventilation or oxygen support. The bulletin read:
“His sensorium is similar with spontaneous eye opening and spontaneous limb movements, but there is still no meaningful eye contact or recognition of family members. He is tolerating feeds via a nasogastric tube well and has been afebrile for the last three days.”
For the uninitiated, Allu Arjun got under severe public scrutiny following the fatal stampede incident which escalated after the actor paid a surprise visit to Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. According to reports, the actor attended the premiere despite police denying permission for the event. Arjun was arrested on December 13 before being released on interim bail the following day.

Pushpa 2 producers, Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar gave Revathi’s family Rs. 50 lakh, while Allu Arjun added Rs. 10 lakh and stayed in touch. Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy contributed Rs. 25 lakh, and the film’s director, Sukumar visited the hospital twice, showing continued support for the grieving family.
Following the unfortunate stampede at the Pushpa 2: The Rule premiere, Chikkadpally Police have filed a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, putting both the actor and the film’s producers under the spotlight. The incident has kicked off a heated discussion about celebrity responsibility and the need for better crowd control at public events.
Wishing little Shri Tej a steady recovery!
