Be it a commoner or a princess; their wedding is one of the most important days of their lives. The truth was not much different from the Princess of Faridkot, Gurmehak Brar; she wanted her wedding to be perfect, and she and her loved ones made sure that she got the wedding of their dreams. The US-based bride returned to New Delhi, to find THE lehenga for herself. However, the perfect lehenga is not that easy to find.
From the galis of New Delhi to high-end stores, Gurmehak Brar had tried every bridal lehenga but couldn't find THE dress for her big day. While she was almost prepared to give up, she reached the doorstep of the magical bridal designer, Anamika Khanna, who turned her vision into a beautiful reality. Gurmehak had pictured herself as a pastel bride, but as soon as she laid her eyes on Anamika's peach-pink lehenga, she was in love. Talking about the same with Vogue India, the bride revealed:
"There was this timeless quality that drew me to it, and it was just apt for the daytime anand karaj wedding we had planned."
Gurmehak Brar is the daughter of HH Raja Amarinder Singh Brar and Rani Deepak Kaur. For her, getting married to the love of her life, Ishaan Vijh, in their hometown, Chandigarh, was a no-brainer. The duo met there, completed their academic qualifications there and even fell in love in the city, which made it only right to start the next chapter of their lives in Chandigarh as well. While Gurmehak chose to specialise in chemical engineering, Ishaan got his undergrad in computer engineering. Later, the duo shifted their bases to the US to pursue their master's degrees.
Different cultures don't always have to mean clashes and Gurmehak and Ishaan made sure to teach us about that at their wedding. Since Gurmehak is a Sikh and Vijh is a Hindu, they decided to combine both their cultures and customs. They incorporated different elements from their respective cultures, from having an Anand Karaj Wedding to the traditional Varmala, Sindoor Daan, and Mangalya Dharanam; the couple enjoyed all the rituals with love and laughter.
As the wedding neared, Gurmehak and Ishaan requested their planners, Dreamzkrraft, to keep the mood board for their wedding events sophisticated and regal. They wanted themed celebrations like Sufi night by Wadali Brothers, a lively setting for their haldi ceremony and a mehendi evening which took them to the colourful markets of Marrakech. For their big day, the Anand Karaj ceremony was inspired by Kashmiri design aesthetics. Gurmehak was walked down the aisle by her father as her brothers led them under a phoolon ki chadar.

Gurmehak wanted her outfits to be distinct in style. So, she picked a gorgeous sharara in dapka zari for the Sufi night and chunni ceremony. A beautiful peacock embellished ensemble by Falguni Shane for her sangeet and a dazzling coral-hued outfit by Abhinav Mishra for her mehendi ceremony. While she opted for the gorgeous peach-pink lehenga by Anamika for her big day, the groom, Ishaan, complemented her in a dapper ivory-hued sherwani by Manish Malhotra for the Anand Karaj ceremony and a Shantanu and Nikhil ensemble for the sufi night.
However, the most stunning part of her wedding ensemble was her jewels. Gurmehak worked with her aunt to put together a gorgeous piece. A jewellery designer helped the princess craft some vintage pieces. This included a jhoomar with turquoise stones, pearls, and kundan-pressed gemstones. She further curated a bridal choker set featuring Burmese rubies and Zambian emeralds, paired with rani haar with delicate emeralds and a crescent motif, beautifully tying her gorgeous look together.
