In the following years, he worked in a series of Gujarati films and made his mark in Dhollywood. In 2018, he appeared in the film, Loveyatri, which opened many doors for him.

In the same year, Pratik Gandhi was also seen in Nitin Kakkar's film, Mitron. However, it was the year 2020 when his acting career took a giant leap after he was shortlisted by the critically acclaimed filmmaker, Harshad Mehta for his web series, Scam 1992, and the rest is history. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Pratik revealed that in 2016, he quit his high-paying corporate job, which came with a package of Rs. 25 lakhs per annum. After leaving his high-paying job, he and his family suffered a major financial crunch because it was at that moment when his father was diagnosed with cancer. He said:

"When I resigned in 2016, just a few weeks ahead of Wrong Side Raju's release, my package was Rs. 25 lakh CTC/annum. I left it thinking I don't know what will happen, but whatever happens, we will see. Then my dad's cancer treatment was also going on, we also had a young child at home. But thought something will work out somehow."

Apart from leaving his high-paying job to become an actor, facing a financial crunch, father's battle with cancer, Pratik Gandhi faced another major heartbreak when his wife, Bhamini Oza, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. It was in 2012-13 when Bhamini's battle with a brain tumor started, due to which she lost the lead role in the famous TV show, Ek Doosre Se Karte Hain Pyaar Hum.

During this time, Pratik stood like a pillar of immense support to his wife, who helped Bhamini recover from the severe health problem. After the surgery, Bhamini recovered from it and won the battle against a brain tumor. Regarding Pratik Gandhi's personal life, he married the love of his life, Bhamini Oza, in 2009 and the couple welcomed a baby girl into their family in 2014.
