Prateik Babbar's Wife, Priya Banerjee On Not Inviting Actor's Dad, Raj And Family To Their Wedding

Late actress Smita Patil's son, Prateik Babbar, married his long-time girlfriend, Priya Banerjee, on February 14, 2025. The couple had an intimate ceremony at Prateik's late mom, Smita Patil's Bandra residence. Ever since, the couple has been congratulated by their near and dear ones. However, fans noticed that Prateik's dad, Raj Babbar, and his half-siblings- Aarya and Juhi Babbar were missing from the important occasion. Now, Prateik's wife, Priya, has clarified the same.

Prateik and Priya were in a relationship for the longest time before they got married in the presence of their family and close friends. Their wedding was a celebration of culture, love and togetherness. They even shared dreamy snaps from their wedding ceremony that stunned their fans. During a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, Priya spoke about Raj, Aarya and Juhi Babbar's absence from the wedding. She revealed that all the important family members from the Babbar's were present. In her words:

"There was absolutely no family member who was missing from the wedding or our celebrations. I don’t know why there are rumours that “family members" were absent. Our families where there including my parents, his aunts who raised him, his nana-nani and everyone who mattered and is family was with us. And there was absolutely nobody who is family was missing."

Priya, going ahead in the interview, shared that being married to him did not feel different. This was because she and him had been together for five years. She said that they had been together for a very long time. It has been almost five years since they have lived under the same roof. In her words:

"More than that I feel like I have known him forever. It feels the same." 

Prateik also added that it felt to him like he was marrying Priya for the thousandth time. He felt like marrying her transported him to another lifetime, another universe. He feels like he can marry her in every lifetime and every universe and this is another one and there are many more to go. 

Prateik Babbar's stepbrother, Arya Babbar expresses disappointment over not being invited

Arya, earlier in an interview with the Hindustan Times, shared that nobody from the Babbar family was invited—not even his father was called. He revealed that he presumed someone had overpowered Prateik's brain and said that Prateik did not want to connect with anyone from his side of the family. Aarya even slammed Prateik's decision and called it disrespectful towards Smita Patil. He said:

"I will give him the benefit of the doubt. He didn't want to invite me or my sister Juuhi (Babbar), okay. But at least he should have invited that person who Smita maa had loved, his father. Yeh cheez disrespect hai towards Smita maa."
