Former Kolkata cop, who won Indian Idol season 3, Prashant Tamang tragically passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 43, after suffering a cardiac arrest. His sudden death shocked the entire entertainment industry, especially his wife and their daughter. Amid that, a video from Prashant Tamang's last live performance has gone viral, leaving his fans emotional.

The video that is going viral on social media is from Prashant Tamang's live performance in Dubai. It was held at Club Yak and Yeti Everest on December 27, 2025. On December 30, 2025, the club shared a reel of Prashant's energetic and powerful performance. It was later reshared by the late singer. The Instagram page of the club captioned the video as:

"Some glimpses from Prashant Tamang live in Dubai. Full of excitement, a powerful crowd, and unbeatable vibes."

Fans got emotional after Prashant Tamang’s sudden death

Minutes after Prashant Tamang’s death was revealed on social media, multiple fans flooded the late actor’s comment section with love and blessings. It is worth mentioning that a lot of fans were unable to believe that the Paatal Lok actor was no more. One fan commented, "Bro tell me you're alive and all are just rumours." Another user wrote, "So shocked to hear the news I can’t just believe - rest in peace jojo." A third user penned, "Sleep well dear soul." A fourth fan shared, "Rest in Peace, brother! Really gone too soon." Another fan commented, "Rip still can’t believe.. Was he unwell?"

Prashant Tamang was ‘hale and hearty’ a few days before his unexpected death

Prashant Tamang’s tragic death had left everyone in shock, including his friends, family and actors he has worked with. Reportedly, the Indian Idol season 3 winner passed away in his apartment in Delhi. Later, one of his friends, Mahesh Sewa, opened up about his death to PTI. He had shared that he is completely shocked by the news. He also shared some details on Prashant Tamang’s funeral. Mahesh was quoted as saying:

"He passed away this morning around 9 a.m. due to cardiac arrest at his residence in Delhi. He was taken to the hospital by his family, but the doctors declared him dead on arrival. I'm shocked by his untimely demise. I spoke to him a few days ago, and he was hale and hearty. His body is still at the hospital. The family is yet to decide whether to perform the funeral in Delhi or Darjeeling."

Prashant Tamang was a popular singer and actor, who was best known as the winner of Indian Idol season 3. Later, the singer had also appeared in multiple Nepali films. However, his breakthrough came with Pataal Lok season 2, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat. He will last be seen in the film, Battle Of Galwan. For those who do not know, Prashant’s father passed away when the actor was very young. Due to the same, he left his schooling and joined the Kolkata Police as a constable to support his family. 

Talking about his personal life, Prashant Tamang was married to flight attendant, Geeta Thapa. Reportedly, the two tied the knot in 2011. Years later, in 2022, the couple embraced parenthood for the first time with their daughter, Ariah. One of Prashant’s last posts is of Ariah, in which the little angel is dressed in a red outfit for Christmas 2025.
