Prajakta Koli has inspired an entire generation with her YouTube videos, and fans were beyond delighted with her wedding announcement. The content creator tied the knot with her boyfriend, Vrishank Khanal, on February 25, 2025, and every detail from her wedding, including the venue, dance videos and Prajakta Koli's bridal trousseau, with several intricate details, impressed fans.
From Prajakta's vibrant look at her pre-wedding festivities to her cream-coloured Pichhwai bridal lehenga set with hand-stitched parijat flowers, an ode to her name, netizens admired every single detail brought in by the actress. However, one thing that left everyone curious was a 'striking green necklace' or Nepali mangalsutra worn by Prajakta at her wedding and post-wedding festivities. Here's everything you need to know about it.
Prajakta Koli's Nepali mangalsutra is known as tilhari in the Nepali culture. The special ornament is similar to a wedding ring in the western culture. It's particularly worn by married women in Nepal that showcase their marital status and their commitment to their partner. For those unaware, Prajakta Koli's husband, Vrishank Khanal hails from Nepal and was born there. So, the couple honoured his culture through their wedding. Tilhari also symbolises femininity and the blessings received by the couple for a long and happy marriage.
The tilhari comprises small glass beads or pote strung together to make that striking green mangalsutra. Its length can differ from choker style to long flowing ones similar to the Mismatched actress's mangalsutra based on preference. Most brides wear tihari made of red colour, however, yellow and green colour options are available. The green colour represents fertility and life. Previously, married women in Nepal didn't step out of their homes without it and single or divorced women can't wear it.
When fans looked carefully, they spotted a big golden pendant attached to it, which is an essential part of tilhari. It signifies the holy bond of marriage that married women in Nepal wear every day. The tihari pendent represents love, devotion, and longevity for the couple's union. Prajakta Koli, admired for her vibrant personality on social media, effortlessly blended important cultural details with her bridal look, inspiring new brides to embrace cross-cultural details at their weddings.

Apart from Prajakta's tilhari, the couple paid tribute to Vrishank's Nepali roots in multiple ways. During their sangeet and wedding reception, Vrishank wore ethnic outfis with a special brooch with two curved knives called khukuri. For those unaware, it represents heritage, valour, and identity, especially for the Gorkha soldiers of Nepal. Later, for their reception, Prajakta flaunted her tilhari with a red banarasi saree, and Vrishank wore a white kurta-pyjama set. He wore a traditional Nepali topi and a brown jacket with golden embroidery that again highlighted his culture.
What do you think about Prajakta Koli's effort to pay tribute to Vrishank's Nepali roots with her tilhari?
